I have 2 Alpine SWR-1242D subs and 2 Alpine SWS-1243D subs currently hooked up to one, Formula MACH-5160, 800 watt 2 channel amp. I have the SWR's on one channel and the SWS's hooked up to the other channel. I want all my subs to be kicking at maximum performance. So I need upgrade my amp, how many watts should get. I'm not really interested in getting an second amp just yet. As you can most likely tell, I'm an Alpine fanboy.

    Impedance:
    They're all 4ohms + 4ohms.

    Watts:
The type R's are 500 RMS, and 1500 peak
The type S's are 300 RMS, and 900 peak

I would say it depends on how much $$$ you have to spend

personally, I would only use 2 subs & use something other then a alpine amp. They are pretty gutless.......

Maybe check out bridging the R's down to a 2 ohm load on a Kenwood 8104D....500 RMS, 1k max, should push them decently.

Oh? I didn't know that, I always thought Alpine was top grade stuff. If their amps aren't the best quality whose are? Something that will last, and give my subs the best kick.
