Hey all, little issue here. The specs say the 08 Kicker 2500 mono amp is only stable to 2 ohms, but my stereo industry guy says that is Bulls--t
Anyone have any experience with this amp, or anyone tried running it like that? I have a single 2 Ohm dual 12"L7, and want to add another 12"L7.
Am I screwed and have to but 2 new 4 ohm duals, or can I put another 2 ohm and wire it down to 1 ohm.

Thanks in advance for the opinions !!! M

So your going to add another DVC at 2 ohm right? you shouldnt need to worry about wiring for 1 ohm, the only way's to wire two dvc's is either at
    Parallel/parallel @ 0.5 ohm,
    series/parallel @ 2 ohm
or fully series @ 8 ohm

or do you have a SVC? i think i might be lost.

*EDIT* No ya i read it right, get the other L7 and wire them in series/parallel, youll be putting peak 2 ohms on the amp. (on a side note, you can run any amp any way you want to(in generalities), its not a question of if it works its more a question of will it work well, and i think kicker has a pretty good idea of how thier equipment works nominally, i wouldnt dick around under 1 ohm on a kicker amp, it just wont last as long.)

Thanks for the speedy reply, that is good news ! So you are saying to wire the 2 coils for each sub in series to 1 ohm, then the 2 subs in parallel to 2 ohms. Never thought of that, but sounds like it should work !!!

You seem to be in the know of the BOOM, so another question for you ..... Better to spend the money on a HO alternator or a 3800 Kinetic battery ? I would think the alternator, but am open to more informed opinions.

    Thanks in advance !!!! M

you could get the HO alt and still be able to afford a lesser expensive batt.

    Pedro got it.
    and as for the wiring
    Series/parallel
thats exactly how you would do it, heres a little draw up

Which is better, HO Alternator or battery?

Thanks guys, I was thinking that the HO would be better. Another question, If I spend the $600-$800 on an HO Alt, would I still need to buy the $400 Kinetic battery, or can I get away with the HO and a normal battery ??

Not that I am a cheap-ass, but that money could be spent somewhere else....Let me know what you think.....Thanks M

$600-800 alternator? what kind of car do you have? model? year? At any rate, i would do the alternator first and just keep the stock battery... You should be okay...

I have a 2005 H2. I have a 2500ZX running 1 DVC 2ohm L712, plan is to get another, run them both @ 2 ohm. Also have 1 set of 6.5SS kicker, plan is to get another set this spring. The lowest priced 260 amp HO Alt I could find was 500 US. Most were almost 1000 US. Why, do u know where I can get one cheaper. I think that upgrading the Alt would solve any power problems that may arise. Thanks for the reply.

I hear alot about the elemental design subs, so they must be good. How would they compare with the 12L7 " I have one of these in a custom ported box to 42Hz,and it is LOUD !!!! 2 should be crazy, just trying to decide between going ported or sealed...Any advice ??

I suggest you listen to the eD subs. They are really loud and clean!

you basically have a GM motor in the H2. 6.0 or close to it right? i found a GM website that sells factory HO alts for my jimmy for cheap. the thing is is that i forgot the address:mad:.

    i found a 160 amp for me for like 200 bucks or less,and a 180 for a lil more.
just look under gm sites. im still looking too.
