The speaker is a cerwin-vega stroker 15” with dual 2ohm voice coils it’s the older style with the shaft sticking out of the center of the speaker. I down loaded some specs. from cerwin-vega and they recommend the box to be 4.25ft^3 net and the driver displacement is .27ft^3. I would like the box to have a round port it can’t be higher than 17” or wider than 39.5”.I plan building it out of 1” thick MDF and it will be powered by a fosgate punch 800.2 amp. Your help would be greatly appreciated, Bumping96
We are gonna end up just slightly larger that the recommended 4.25 cu. ft. If you build a box that is 38-inches wide by 16-inches tall by 17-inches deep, we'll be pretty close. Those dimensions will get us around 4.375 cu. ft. I would even go slightly larger. 38-inches wide by 17-inches tall by 18 inches deep will give us an internal volume of 5 cu ft. Do you recall the port tuning recomendation for that speaker???
It will have to be 6-inch or larger. For a 6-inch port in a 5 cu ft box the port will need to be 8.5 inches long. For the Box that is 4.375 cu ft, the port will need to be 10.5 inches long.
Thanks for your help, I will build the the 5cu ft box with the 6" port that is 8.5" long. Also what method do you use to secure the PVC pipe that will be used as the port for the box.
Screw it in. Also, use plenty of caulk behind the port. We still want every thing sealed. NO air leaks and the port is not an air leak. See the screws in the picture
