So iam far from a master, and have been out of the game a while, but my old roomate offered me his old sub/amp combo if i installed his new one, and ive wirid a large number of headunits and a failry similar number of sub/amp combos. regardless i have a couple questions reguarding the stuffs i got. i have a Pioneer P6000UB that i installed about a week after i got my car (lol) and am rather satisfied with it. the amp and subs are MA Audio (formerly Mobile athority) and if i remember right Mobile authority was an off brand back in the day... is this still the case? how good are they now?

    Pioneer-P6000UB
    MA-HK898 1200W 2ch
MA-MA12BPQ (Dual 12 SVC in quad ported box Manufact built)

Also a couple questions on porting and sealed boxes. Whats the difference really? i was always told that if you were going to put your box in the trunk use a sealed box. but all my knowledge is from word of mouth on the street lol. furthermore, whats the deal with 'stuffing' or insulating the inside of ported boxes, any real benni from that?

if u want loud bass use ported, if you want sound quality and not chest pounding bass, go sealed. the difference is just loud with descent sound quality for ported and pure SQ wwith less output.

Right on, any intel on 'stuffing' or using like cotton to pack into a ported sub?

i never have if that helps, and i dont think anyone else on here has either, thats for sealed boxes to trick the sub into seeing a bigger enclosure.

the stuffing is polyfil, pillow stuffing from a craft store or wal-mart. what it does is act as a new medium for the sound and causes the sound to slow down and make the enclosure seem larger to the subwoofer. that box for those subs probably isnt the best band pass box for them. you'd be much better off building a ported box or a new properly designed band pass box. also ported is louder than sealed because it is more acousitically efficient by utilizing both sides of the speaker cone.

Thats what i had though... part of the reason i took the sealed front off the box... Right on though thanks for clarifying that for me!. and ya the box is the next thing to go it already vibrates along the top, and is about 0.75 Cf^3 too small according to the specs...
