Amazing, I got really bored last weekend, so I went to Wal-Mart and bought a can of air. I took my computer completely apart, removed all the drives and took the power supply out. Everything was removed and cleaned. What a job. One thing I noticed, I have slots for 4 hard drives, three are installed. The mother board has connections for 4 hard drive. Why do I have only 3 power connectors for harddrives???? Thats really odd Anyway its CLEAN
After seeing the amount of dust in there, it does need to be done on a regular basis. I wonder how many computers are damaged by the amount of dust in the processor heat sinks. Even my cooling fans are running much more quiet. I think I'll make this a once a year project
try monthly, you'll be shocked as to how quickly dust can build up. the most important part is making sure the heatsink is clean on both the cpu and gpu. make sure you dust out your power supply to. btw i doubt that power supply could support 4 hard drives.
damn I need to clean mine out...fuking craftsman air compressor went to sh!t though...too lazy to bring it to sears.
The Computer has a 350 watt power supply, how much more do I need? I do plan to add one more drive someday. Here is some info that I found A 350 watt power supply doesn’t sound like much, but Dell rates their power supplies conservatively. A Dell 350W power supply is significantly better than the generic 350W model you'd buy at Compusa. Found here http://www0.epinions.com/review/pr-...3_20GHz_512MB_80GB_D84L1/content_181061324420 I plan to keep this computer for a few more years. Might not be a good Idea. The air in the compressor has moisture in it, NOT good for the computer.
haha i just have a thing against dell, i worked for a place called pc geeks on wheels for a couple years as a PC tech. Let's just say I'm disgusted with dell.
I've owned three, and not one problem. They have been outstanding. My first Dell (don't remember the model #) had a 486DX processor. My second one (it still works to this day) is a Dimension L733r. And finally this one. As far as I'm concerned they are good machines. But now I know who to ask if I have a computer question.
Man I Hate Dell... I Have Had 2 And My First One After About A Year Everything That Should Appear Black On The Screen Would Appear A Lime Green Color And Then After About 6 Months It Just Quit Doing That, And One Night I Was On My Bed Listening To MUsic And All Of A Sudden My Laptop Shot Flames Across My Bedroom. Lol And Then I Have This Dell Laptop That I'm Only using Bc I Hate Desktops.... Lol
Again I've had great luck with Dell The problem with a laptop is simply NOT enough computing power. I have both a laptop and a desktop. The laptop is basically used as a remote control for the desktop. Yes, the laptop can do basic tasks like surf the net and other minor things. But I also do alot of video processing and editing. The laptop with its dual core 1.73 GHz processor is no match for the Pentium 3.4 GHz Extreme chip in the desktop. Also all of the 2 Gig of ram goes to running the computer. Look at the picture in the first post, thats a 256 Meg video card. So for what I do, a laptop alone wont cut it How did we get so far of topic? Anyway I'd love to hear more opinions
