http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/15inch/speakers/mm2154/?reviews=1 I found a lot of great reviews on them... I can get them for about $125 each.... The RMS wattage is just about perfect for what I have available.... And they seem to be engineered towards "low" bass...... although the listed frequency response seems kind of whacked. They say only 18 to 150 ??? Never saw a sub which wasn't rated for at least a little higher than that, but anyway.... Just wondering if these might be my back up plan, if my ED's don't give me enough ultra-low bass.... Hmmm, Anybody ? Peace, Fish PS.... You are not allowed to shoot these down, unless you give me a better suggestion for my purposes ;-) LOL
subwoofers arent made to play over 100-120Hz anyways...its call inductance. Also never look at the frequency range...it is fully enclosure dependent. I've heard those before....sound very good.
Right on ! I'm almost surprised, as it seems like everytime I find some piece of equipment that looks good on paper, it ends up being too good to be true. So I'll tell you what.... If my ED's don't do everything I want them too.... and come to think about it, even if they do..... I was thinking earlier, that the box that Electrolytic has figured for me will probably be a nice "musical" sounding setup, and that will be great for my daily driver setup. And that box, of course, will be finished nicely, and permanently mounted. However, I might just go on and build a second "oversized box" and just see how low and loud I can make two of these 15" Polks play. Ya' see, I can just throw this other box in my F150 Supercab, on the other side, and simply switch my speaker wires over, from my daily driver sub box, to my "goof off / show off" box, for 1 or 2 days here or there When I'm done playing around, I simply pull it out and toss it back in the garage And since that box won't be permanent anyway, I don't care if it stands up above the rear window, or how much "behind the seat space" it takes up. I could probably fit a 10 cube box (or more), if that would help make more ultra-deep bass...... I just need to get the rest of the sytem finished first. Building another enclosure, and aiming for ultra-deep bass will be the easy / fun part Peace, Fish
This is what i have, blows away most brands out there for price and power handling and hits as low as you want. I've went through more than my fair share of subs, let's call it bad luck lol, not user error, but this is the sh-- Cerwin Vega Stroker 122 http://phatcaraudio.com/pro1307800.html
Hey Electro.... Well sure, those are some bad ass subs.... But I don't have near enough power to do those things any justice.... Do I ? (700-900 watts for a pair). Maybe if I got just a single 15" DVC 2 ohm (that could provide a 1 ohm load, right ?) I could then give it the full 900 wt RMS. I believe those are actually a multi-labled speaker. You can get them as just a "Stroker" and 1 or 2 other names too.... But yea, cool subs ! Peace, Fish
Ya good point lol, i sold that box and i beat the crap out of those. Was pushing 1200 watts rms to them. Also MTX subs can take a beating too, i've never fried any mtx sub. Other than those and the kicker L5 and L7's which i did fry them all but they hit the hardest, the stroker is like a whole level above. You can't find another sub that can take 2000 watts rms at $200-$300 and it hits lower i think more than all of them. But i am pushing over 1200 watts rms to it and it has a nice custom box so this adds to it. You can push 400 watts rms to this sub and it sounds amazing too. In my opinion nothing comes close to this sub. Would like to get a second one now, i feel the urge again for more boom lol. I'm only running it at 4 ohms and my amp and everything stays cool and i can abuse it all i want. Maybe i'll get a second sub and a second amp and run it the same way.
One sub will be enough for the power you have, and pound just as hard with the correct box as two cheaper subs
show him the vids electro! lol u should get that stoker that has the clear dustcap. what is it again? u said u wanted it.
lol, oh ya forgot about those vids and the stroker pro! lol, maybe i'll save for one of those instead. It has an elipsoid shape meant to prevent unwanted flexing and distorting of the surround that happens with regular round subs. thats what it is! http://www.cerwinvegamobile.com/strokerpro15.php do it electro! lol u know u want to!
lol, ya that would be frigin sweet. If i remember it would be like $600 to get one and have it shipped to me.
dude do it! you need that sub to finally cure your addiction to straight up ridiculous bass! lol or get another stroker.
lol, i should do that, the transmission is slipping anyways, i'm hoping it lasts through the winter but don't know. Sigh almost time to let this car go and get something else. Is it legal to drive around with the back sealed off?
