Back in the early 90's I had MTX Eliminators and Kicker freeairs. Seems like most companies moved away from this design. Just wondering if there are any good ones out there? Ones that can handle some power.

well...IB subs don't need a lot of power anyways to begin with.

Dayton makes some 15" IB specific subs.

    Fi has some IB subs.

I guess that I should have clarified "something that can handle some power". I know that freeairs dont need much power....but I would like to find some that are built well. The old MTX's that I had 17 or so years ago were made pretty whimpy. They sounded pretty damn good though...before they would break up. They were rated for 150W RMS...but coulnt handle it. They actually sounded the best with 50-75W each. The Kicker Freeair's were rated for 200W RMS. I'm looking for a modern freeair that you can beat on....if thats possible??????

Mine is in pieces right now...waiting to buy a recone when they get the soft parts back in stock.

    1000 watts + 10Hz + 6 cu ft ported 40Hz + 112.5 sq in port area = somethings going to break lol

my brother wants to take out his w7's and do a free air install with an 18 or maybe two 15's... which Fi subs would work... and how much power could they take... because he wants to use either one or two of his 1000/1's...

one of his 1000/1's is plenty for any IB install.

Call up Fi...I remember them making IB specific subs for HT people.

he called fi after one of those subs blew because they were testing the amps and gain and I turned it up too much with the trunk lid open and it went up in flames... fi has a ht free air and my brother got two of them and they were modified for his application and were supposed to take 1000 watts a piece but they would give out with 500watts a piece... so he got... http://sonicelectronix.com/item_6705_MTX+Audio+T9515-44.html two of those... for free air but he paid the like 900 something for both we have a friend that sells to us at dealer price sometimes under... with 2 of these of power them... http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3348... all that in his 330i... I will have pictures and videos next time I see him or something... at least pictures.

yeeea I know... I was always too in awe to take out a camera when we were playing around with different songs... his flip out screen from his hu moves so much it looks like its going to break off the hinges... its quite the huge system... birthsheets of both amps are around 1900watts rms at 1ohm.

the 15's are already installed infinite baffle and have been for a good month or so... taking 1400 watts a piece like nothing. I really hope I can get some pics soon... I might just e-mail my brother to take some pics and send them to me...
