I want to make a box for my subs... I have used the re box calculator and it seems pretty handy but wanted to see if maybe electro or azn could come up with something different... they are going in a 2003 mercedes e500 so theres alot of trunk space and they are getting 400 watts a piece. I will get the cuts done at lowes or home depot... what supplies would I need to put it together? wood glue... screws and clamps right? I wanna get it done this weekend. any help would be great.

your going to need a lot of screws, wood glue, silicone caulking and some clamps. Hopefully, azn or electro (if they login) and aren't too busy can lend you a hand in the design.

Haven't seen azn today and electro hasn't been on for a few days. They will be on though. maybe you should send them a PM or even better, PM Ranger. He's the master of box designing. I'll bet he'll help you with a design.

Sure no problem, will do a little later, can you post how much space you have to work with and the model number of the subs, dual 2 ohm or 4 ohm, and how many watts you will be pushing to them.

ohhh man thanks alot electro... yea it will for sure fit. I left a bit of inches off from the measurements to account for the wood thickness and anything else... so do they cut holes at home depot or do I have to attempt it... how much did you guys spend on materials when building your own box? good thing weve got 4in pvc pipe just laying around the garage.

MDF is about $20. caulking prolly like $5, screws we all know are real cheap and wood glue prolly another 5-10 bucks. you have the 4" PVC and you can do all the cuts at lowes.

You'll probably spend about $75 all in with speaker box carpet and a terminal for the box and i probably over estimated that.

im not gonna carpet it yet... and I can take a terminal off of some of our prefabs... where should the ports go?

no problem, the ports should be on the same side as the subs, you will probably have to brace this box in the middle. MDF is like $60-$80.00 here for a sheet of 3/4 lol.

I know lol, don't know why it's so much here. I'm in Toronto

You can get all the cuts done where you buy it except for the holes for the subs and ports..
