    Which would be better for an all around music type person interested in SQ with a little of the boom boom, bandpass or free air.

    I probably would go with bandpass given those options. Free air can be a real pain at times especially if you are concerned with SQ.

    I wouldn't go with bandpass...if you want sq than go with Infinite Baffle.

    Free air is just hanging a sub in the air and playing it.

    But if you go IB and want some decent output you'll need cone area and displacement.

    What's infinate baffle, would that be like cutting a hole in my deck?

    IB is another word for free air. they are the same,and yes when the trunk is properly sealed from the cabin in an IB install it can sound nice.
