wiring subs

    is it a good idea to parallel wire the subs if you have a regular stereo amp. i have a xm-gtr2022 1200 watt max what do you guys think can anyone give me some advice im kinda new to this but i do love when m car thump i just want the most of what i have for right now i want to upgrade but need advice on what to get thats good for the money

    what subs do you have and what ohm?

    well all i know is that thhe speakers are audiobahn 12s and the max is 400 watts i bought the box used

    is there a model written on the subs or anything? without knowing the number of coils or what ohm they are its going to be hard to figure out how to wire them up.

    Wiring

    If you have a normal 2 channel class AB amplifier, it will most likely be a 4 ohm mono unit, no less.. There are not really any subs you can solely use a parallel circuit and achieve a 4 ohm mono load at the amplifier unless they are dual 8 ohm subs which are 1 in a million.. If they are typical dual 4 ohm subs you will use a combination parallel circuit, then a series circuit to achieve the 4 ohm mono load. If you do 2 dual 4 ohm all in parallel, you will have a 1 ohm mono amplifier that would typically be a class D 1 channel mono amplifier.. Hope this helps..
