Hello. New to the site. I dont know much about car audio. I recently bought a Pioneer DEH-P5900IB. What Im trying to figure out is high pass filter and source level adjustment is for? The manual says for the high pass filter is for keeping low sounds from coming out the front or rear speakers. I know I dont want any bass coming out of my midrange speakers. The adjustments are 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, and 125Hz. Should I just mess around with it till I find a setting that I like or what? Also, for source level adjustment, will increasing this make sound better as well? If its any help, I also am running 2 bazooka 12's and a 600 kenwood amp.
your in luck i have a pioneer head to and i have the same settings. the first one.xover settings. play around with them and see what sounds good to you. if your speakers can play a little bass then set them lower.mine play ok midbass. personally i have mine set @ 80hz hipass 12db per octave to my doors my dash are set higher so they dont play any bass at all.they cant handle bass to well, and 80hz lowpass 18bd per octave to my subs.
I'd have the HP filter set at 100 myself, but for mroe bass out of the speakers 125 would be alright.
source level is for switching between sources...it will not make anything sound better. Say you have your CD source volume set at max listening at 58/62. Then switch the to Aux and its super loud and distorted...then you lower the SLA on the AUX source so its even with the CD.
