This probably is a dumb question but...... I currently am running a JL 10W1 under the rear seat of my f150 powered by a Boston GT 22 amp. The sound is really good but Im looking for a little more kick. This summer I plan to make a new more complex box (rear console) that will hold 1 10 inch Boston G5 subwoofer. My question is if I purchase a G5 DVC I can then run it at about 450-500 watss RMS. Should this G5 be alot better than my 10W1 running 275WRMS? Or is it a situation that will require me to run 2 subs to notice a big diffrence? or possibly 1 12?? Any suggestions would help. Thanks
There is never any dumb questions... If you want a lot more kick, it's all in the box. You're using a very small sealed box now, right? Try to take the max measurements you can use in your F150 and think about making another bigger box, maybe ported...
2004 f150 Its a 2004 supercab. I will post a picture here in a bit of what I have built for now. I was thinking of putting in a seat riser and possibly putting 2 G5's under the rear bench. If I do that , the only issue is where to put the second amp. I can put the subs on the outsides and the amp in the middle. Maybe I could stack them?? I want to build a box that sounds good but looks good as well. I would like to show at least 1 of the amps flush mounted.
2004 f150 I was thinking of either making some kind of a rear seat console box or getting a seat riser to be able to fit deeper subs. I like the design of my current box but I would like to be able to have more depth and fit 2 plus stack the amps in the center.
2004 Thanks, that was my first box I have ever built. Im going to try to get real creative with the next box. Possibly try some fiberglass and paint.
2004 I like to design it for the best looks alos, I might find a way to mount them in the middle at angles so you can see both of them. Also it would be easier to adjust them that way. With the added room a seat riser would give me, I should have way enough air space. The G5 subs I want only are rated at .5 for a sealed encloser.
