Im looking at getting a kenwood kdc x689 and im looking for opinions. It does have the D-Mask+ feature, but this unit is I think a 2005 model and I had heard that kenwood made the ribbons a little better in the later years.

i think 4 volt preouts is way enough to get great clean signal from amp,
to Andy c, is their other hu brand you consider in getting or are you limiting yourself to kenwood?

Pioneer is better for head units, more options for the same price.

These Line drivers are really starting to interest me. I see them on ebay for like 50 bucks. Do they make a huge difference? What brands should i be looking for? PG? memphis? Audio control?

pedro quiroga- It has 3 EQ Bands.

bigsq- Im wanting only kenwood cause I want that D-Mask+ flip face feature.

My only concern with this hu is how reliable that D-Mask+ feature is gonna be.

next to nothing, i think it's only 2.5volts. I think i should better buy one of those. Would it make a big difference?

yes and no.does your system sound good to you?if yes then you dont need one.

if no.you can turn your gain/s down to reduce any unwanted noise entering your system.

they make eq's with high voltage signal outs too.so if you need an eq look into one of those.

i hope i worded that right.

I get you, well I'm not sure about the sound. Right now i do have a whining noise but my wiring sucks. That will be all upgraded as soon as my shipment comes in.

So what your saying is that i could just get an eq and hit 2 birds with 1 stone? I should look into that.

that's what i thought you meant. I guess i should test my system out once i get it installed. Then i can make the decision if i should get one.
