Now for my Dilema

I've been completely SATISFIED with my Single sealed Tempest in a 3cub Box powered by my Autotek SX2300 (600-700 watts) inside a PT cruiser.

Now, my new Dilema is that I traded the PT and Pulled ALL the gear out of it. I now have a 2002 Infiniti QX4 which I want to eventually Fit with a Quality SQL System much like my PT Cruiser.

The only problem now is that the SPACE i have to work with (Amp Rack/Power Distribution/Box) is only 38x14x14 (WxHxD). With only this much room to work with, my question is this:
    1. WILL I BE ABLE TO GET THE SAME PERFORMANCE I GOT FROM MY TEMPEST?
    2. What are my other choices (subwoofer wise)
    3. DO I really NEED to increase my Workable Space?

Before I forget..The budget is ALSO a BIG Factor..My Tempest was Only 150.00..I dont want to spend over 200.00 for the SUB/s.

    Thanks

Hmmm, I got a couple installs coming up here as soon as the K series Edesigns ship. I am interested to hear them, and will pass the word on. I might consider IDQs, Perfects, or some W3s in that price range. I cant really call them SQL subs though, I'd lean more towards SQ subs. Dual 12s maybe? Bonus SPL wrapped in SQ.

    This is exactly what I had in mind. 2 12"s..probably 2 Alpine typr-R's or 2 IDQ's.

The shiva is also a Contender, but it will only be for 1 because of space.

Thanks and PLEASE let us know your findings on those E12K's which everyone is talking about.

I love the Shiva, but enclosure size is an issue here. I cannot reccomend it in that little space. Not a fan of the Type-Rs. I'd get the IDQs first. Very similar in both SQ and output to the Shiva. I have a buddy (BlkX here on this forum) who has a pair. I was quite impressed. 2 thumbs up.

I am building a box for and helping create a new install for Flawlesskid as soon as he gets his E12K. That will be one of the installs. Slimafroshady on CAF is getting a set of 15s in a prefab box (I know, I told him I'd build it for him, but ...) and a JBL 1200.1 to power it. I will do the complete install for him. I'll be getting my hands on a couple of them and I will be sure to let you know my opinion of each install.

Flawless is currently running my Shiva in his car untill we get the E12K in. I built the enclosure for a higher frequency peak than I like because he prefers more midbass impact, but I may have shrunk it up a bit too much. Anyways, I will lay the E12K in a .68 alignment (far more SQ friendly) and give a slightly skewed head to head of the 2 for you as well.

Hey, if you really love your tempest, look into some fiberglass work, that way you can use Up every single inch possible, and it may work...

now i seen a suggestion on alpine type r's or idq's...
if i were you, and you were going to change woofers, id look into the idq's, ive owned the type r, it was a great sq, ok for the spl i guess, but just wasn't what i was looking for, in a SQL setup, of witch i finaly got, ive never owned and idq sub, but i only hear great things from them...

well thats my .02cents, have a good one
