a battery shouldnt make a car not start but it can make it not crank. i would still watch out for that fuel pump or regulator. if it does it again throw a fuel pressure gauge on it and run it and then let it sin over night and see if the pressure leaks down, it should run at about 30-35psi and when you unplug the fuelpressure regulator vaccum hose it should go up about 10psi
Is this no-start CEL light test pretty much Ford OBD-II specific or will it apply to most OBD-II vehicles, or possibly 1995 and older vehicles?
Well occupant, it's a pretty good test for most Ford products out there. One caveat is if the car is OBD II compliant and it has any code stored, the light "may" stay lit while cranking. Even if it sees a PIP signal, which is basically the crank signal. As far as Asian makes, many show the same behavior. CEL goes out, it sees a crank signal, including pre-OBD II.
