Can anyone recommend a good clean amp. I dont need a lot of power.. maybe 75 W per channel.. But the sound must be clean and the amp well made. Will go up to about $300. I have two xtant 403A which both got wet and blew up, so I need to replace them.

Im driving Infinity 62.i 6.5 in the back, 6.5 CDT components in the front. and an audiobahn 8in sub under the rear seat.. its in a wrangler. The smaller the better.

Ive got my eye on the following, but Im not sure about some of the brands.

    JL 300/4
Boston Acoustics GT-40 . I hear their speakers are good, are their amps any good?
    Memphis 16-mca3004
    alpine pdx 4.100
    zapco i-4100

I guess Im leaning towards the JL.

Ive been trying to fix the Xtants, but havent had any luck.. no schematic, and Xtant has been no help at all. They wouldnt fix them, they say they dont have schematics for them, and didnt respond to my last email. I would never buy from them again.

personally i would lean toward the memphis... the alpine is a good amp but i dont think there is much out there that can top memphis for the money and customer service.. the mclass amps are also super clean... i opted for using two mc300.2 instead of the 4 channel but i just wanted that extra power for super clean listening.... some may dissagree on this one but i certainly wouldnt go with the jl i have a problem with them for years.. namely just to expensive when u can get the same thing for less... all in the name.....

thanks for the opinions. really leaning toward the memphis or the alpine, based on your suggestions. Any opinions on the audison SRX 4. Its a few bucks more, but everyone raves about them. Ive never heard of them.

oh yeah those amps are nice.they are italian.
    Audison VRx6.420

i would think about the 6 ch.since you have 4 speakers and a sub.

I have two good locations already wired and ready to go, from the blown Xtants. I was going to buy a 4ch for front/rear, and a 1ch for the sub. Size is an issue, the amps cant be more than 8.75" in depth.

From what I can tell, the Alpine PDX's are "D" class? Efficient, but historically not as clean as AB. Has something changed? Do I understand all of this correctly?

Well, I changed my location and bought a US AMPS AX-5600. Ike Sounds has them for $300. They say they are new, not refurbs. Hopefully not counterfeit also. Should be here in a week or so. Cant wait, Im sick of the IPOD and head phones.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Dont know if I made a good decision or not. But at least I mad one.

The new full range Class D amps by Alpine and Eclipse are VERY efficient and are built for excellent sound quality...yeah in the past maybe the class d amps were not as clean...these though are new "ICE POWER" amps...super efficient and clean

I got the US Amps AX-5600 installed. Turns out its a 2005 blemish. Thats why it was so cheap. I did talk to US Amps, and they were very nice. The connections on the amp are nice and sturdy. The subwoofer has a variable low pass, the rear channels have a variable low pass and a variable high pass, the front channels have a variable high pass. I get absolutely no ignition noise. The amp has good clean power. It also came with a remote bass gain knob, something ive never had before, but really enjoy having. The amp gets a bit warmer than my old fan cooled xtants, but it seems well made, and the sound is great. Thanks for the help.

    sweet.do you have any pics?

you can find 12v fans at radio shack for just under 20.

or if you have a northern tool store around you they have fans for 3-6 bucks.
