Questions N Problems with viper5900

    iam from malaysia i have just installed my viper5900sst at a local Malaysian DEI authorised dealer but i didnt install the remote start yet. My car comes with an original immobiliser, the installer said he needs to install a device with my car key in it at all time n he would hide the device inside my car to make the remote start work.
    1)Are there any other way of doing a remote start for a car that comes with with original immobiliser? (iam driving Nissan Xtrail SUV)

    2)my transmitter doesnt notify me when the alarm is triggering even when i am just beside the car.. but when i disarm it does let me know the alarm was triggered.. is this normal? wat would be the most likely cause of this problem?

    I am not familiar with that perticular Nissan. The transponder is a device that prevents the car from starting unless it sees a key that is programmed for that car. In other words no one can copy your key and start your car. Remote starting also cannot be done unless the car thinks the correct key is in the ignition.

    As far as I know there is no bypass module available for your car. So what the installer has to do is make the car think the key is in the ignition during remote starting. He also has to make sure its off when you use your key. If the car sees both keys at the same time it wont start.

    I have used this method many times, it works and it works well

    I am not familiar with the Viper, but the Autopage uses a seperate antenna to transmit to the LCD remote. Check with the installer maybe they can help.

    Not sure if i could get a dei entena hehe.. DEI support is as good as none in malaysia.. The authorised dealer i went to havent even seen dei5900 n doesnt know whether there r any 1 way remote compatible with viper5900.. i even called the distributor 4 times n they couldnt give me an answer.. Actually i bought my 5900 from US i tried buying in malaysia n again called then 3 times they cant give me a price

    I see the antenna in the picture, so I am sure that it came with the alarm.

    I wonder does the LCD remote require any programming?

    sorry i misread your reply thought u asked me to replace the antena.. anyway the guy who did my car has been on sick leave for a week already.. the rest of the guys in the shop dont have a clue abt dei products.. i guess i just have to wait longer

    sorry guys ihave just found out my transmiter was in the 'sleep' mode.. the problem is fixed now.. dont know y my installer set it to the 'sleep'mode... anyway thanx alot to u guys

    1)guys is item in the link above the thing i need to add on to my alarm system to make the remote start work.. i mean this is the only thing together with my spare key will amke the remote start work right?

    2)sorry for sounding stupid but do i still need a siren with built in backup battery if i already have a backup battery for the alarm.

    If you don't wanna leave a key in the car, go to BypassKit.com - Direct source for Bypass Kit and databus interface solutions: No Key Required. Search for a transponder bypass for you vehicle. You can order it or the shop that installs it can order it. Download the correct firmware for your vehicle and flash the bypass module via your computers usb port. ( need a box that goes between the computer and the bypass module)

    You will need to download Xpress VIP to flash the module. The bypass kit will learn the transponder code of your key and during remote starting, it will make the car think the key is in the ignition.

    Now, I have never done a remote start on a Nissan. So o the Nissan I dont know which wire or wires the bypass module needs to tie into. I will have to look into that one. But the bypass kit does come with directions.

    The easiest way is to leave a key in the car using something like the Directed 556u. It works because the key is actually left in the box.

    We learn by asking.

    I have done Fords and Chryslers with transponders. I can tell you that these cars only need to "see" the key during remote starting. Usually a few seconds after remote starting the bypass can turn off.

    The Nissan may or may not be the same way. Are you going to do this yourself?

    Nope i am not going to DIY coz i dont know how.. hehe.. anyway my installer is going to do it for me i just have to buy the right bypass .. i am to buy it from US coz the original viper price here is really ridiculous .. my installer quoted me the bypass more than US100!!!

    The universal bypass is the easiest because you put a key in it. But its also very reliable.
