I have a RE MT series subwoofer that I special ordered. It has dual 1 ohm voice coils. I have a Visonik v4000xd amplifier. My question is how do you make the amp run at 17 volts to pull power for db drag. Also I have heard that you can open the case and make it 1 ohm stable with little fabrication. If someone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

If you want to run it on 17 volts you will need to get a bank of 16 volt batteries...then you will need some way of charging these batteries independently from the cars electrical system.

Either have one alternator for the cars electrical system and buy a 16 volt alternator and have it solely for the batteries and amps...OR buy a 16 volt battery charger and charge the batteries and drive to the competition...burp it...then charge inbetween burps

Welcome !! Sounds like you have some nice stuff there. Azn let me ask this question now and get it over with lol. What is a burp and how exactly does it happen. And why does it happen and how would you theoretically get the best burp! Not that's what i'm going for i'm just interested in whats happening inside the amp.

a burp is just blasting a single frequency sine wave for 2-3 seconds.

I still have that Rockford Fosgate SPL sub, trying to get rid of it. I should hook it up and check it out.

I own a car audio shop in Parkersburg WV. I dont do the installs unless its basic stuff. I have to get up to speed on this stuff. I bought the amp at a show in PA. I paid under 200 bucks for the amp and I though I would run it. I have a quad voicecoil sub so I thought since the amps are strapable that I would run 4 if I have to. THe RE engineer said this sub would handle 20,000 watts with no problem so. DO you have any recommendations on some good strapable amps that I could buy. THis is solely going to be used for comp since my freq. is at 66hz. I will have an interchangeable port for regular listening.
