I have 2 issues that I need some advice on. I have a 99 mercury cougar and im redoingmy complete system.

    1. I already have a pair of clarion tweeters molded into my traiangle sail panels up front that I refuse to get rid of (looks good). I am planning on putting these up front. I need to know how should i go about running both set of tweeters up front? Should i leave the kickertweeters in the middle of the speakers or mount them somewhere else. And do i just get some bass blockers for the clarions or use a different crossover for them.

    Kicker SS56.2 5.25" 2-Way Speaker Set
    5.25" Tri-Techý woofer cone
    Butyl rubber surround
    Custom cast aluminum basket
    1-3/16" Tetoroný dome tweeter
    2-way crossover (2,800 Hz at 24 dB/octave high-pass, 12 dB/octave low-pass)
    Tweeter attenuation control (0, +1.5, +3dB)
    Frequency response 50-22,000 Hz
Recommended power range 8-90 watts RMS
    Peak power handling 180 watts
    Sensitivity 86 dB
    Top-mount depth 2-3/8"

    2. I also need some help in figuring out which crossovers to use and which not to use. I am using a kicker 800.4 amp for the mids and highs. I also have a pioneer deck with built in crossovers and im also using a clarion 7-band eq. any help would be appreciated.

    thanks gary

First of all, are you SURE you want 2 sets of tweeters up front? This can alot of times ruin your imaging.....and SQ.

If you feel you need them, then by all means go ahead. Might just leave them where they are and see how it sounds. Experimentation is key

As for wiring them up, just go ahead a parallel the sail tweets into the existing front wires. This will create a 2 ohm load in the upper regiersters of the amp, but should do fine. For the x-overs, i suggest using whatever is recommended for them, if you dont know, then a quality 12dB/octave x-over @ arounf 5kHz will get you in the ball park.

hey thanks alot and what about my2nd question

im trying to figure out wich ones to use. Inthe past i was told to use the HP crossover on the deck, turn the loud off, turn the decks volume up to about 3/4 of the ay and use the eq's volume to control the main volume.
im also trying to figure out if I also use the ones on the amp itself too?

    thanks

in my set up i use the heads crossover.it has better filtering.i too have a pioneer.it's a 7800.

for you though try them both.see which one you like better.

as for the tweet why not run them off of the kicker croosovers that you have, but dont use the kicker tweet.

OR......put the kicker tweet where the clarion is.also does the clarion tweet have any kind of crossover on it?

yup the clarion tweets already have there own sepertae crossovers. The tweets are coming from a component set. I would love to put the kicker tweets where the clarion ones are but the kicker ones ae just way too big and deep.

Thanks for the info on the crossover, will experiment wih both tomorrow

My 10-cents worth, Use the Kicker as a co-axial. Now we need to do something about the tweeters in the sail panels only if they might be causing a problem. Listen to you system for a day or 2. If it sounds OK leave it alone. But if you hear a problem ( a seperation between the door speakers and the tweeters) then wire the tweeters out of phase. Usually this helps. Also point the tweeters, (if possible) toward the rear veiw mirror ( this usually helps alot).

Tweeters are super Directional, and when they are pointed at you the sound stage goes away. ( this is not true with Q Forms because the tweeters are much closer to equidistant from your ears). Odd Order cross overs also help Alot (18dB per Octave) because they are either 90-degrees or 270- degrees out of Phase.

    Have fun
