I just bought a chevy Tahoe one week ago. it runs fine i had it check out and it has no mechinical problems. four days after i parked it and used my keyless remote to lock it. the remote contains lock, unlock, and remote starter. when i came back to open i press the wrong key remote start it and the car engine lock up. i cannot start the car up. it cranks but dont hold. the gas goes up and it sparks but for some reason it would not start. the mechanic told me that it is the security system locked the car up so it won't start. i really need help any advice would help. i was thinking of removing the whole security from the car so it can start.
Now the engine is cranking right? What year is your tahoe? It sounds like a security problem if the engine cranks but does not start. I'm not sure how the PassLock system was bypassed. So first we need to unp!ss off your truck. Turn the ignition on and leave it on for an hour. Don't try to start it. Turn off the ignition. Disconnect the battery Now for the pass lock computer, at the steering column you need to locate the wires going to the PassLock Computer. They will be 3 thin wires, one will be Red w white stripe, the other will be Orange w Black stripe and the last one will be yellow. The yellow wire should be cut. Solder this wire back together. Reconnect the battery It should start. This should apply to most Tahoes. Check out this thread http://www.caraudiotalk.com/audio-forum/showthread.php?t=4243
thank you for the info. i really appreciated. i had some take the remote starter and security system out. he found out that the system was defected. the car is starting fine. i am going to install another alarm and starter system soon. do you know if the new remote starters with the lcd good or not? i saw some from ebay.
I doubt seriously that the Remote Start System was defective. The only way to Freak out the PassLock computer is an incorrect bypass method or sloppy install at the PassLock wires. Anyway the only Security System/Remote Start that I have ever had a problem with was an older Omega unit. And there tech support sucked. I'm gonna assume that it has not improved.
