I got a bandpass box with two Infinity perfect 10.1s and throughout the use I noticed that a crack in the plexiglass began to form. It did not sound any different so I was not in any rush to replace it but then yesterday I noticed that my woffers sounder really bad, bad enough that I thought I may have blown one of them. I saw that nerly half of the screws that held the plexiglass on were not tight anymore and the glass was vibrating It even broke one of the screws. I was wondering it the plexiglass I used was oo thin because it does vibrate alot even when the screws are tight but it was the thickest I could find (about 1/8 to 1/4 an inch). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what thickness glass or use and what type of screws?
If you can find 3/4" or 1" thick plexiglass it definately wont vibrate or crack. Maybe look through your local yellow pages to see if you can find someone who sells it. Its definately out there though.
Yep, at least 3/4, and 1 inch if its a very large area. Pedro, your thought on doubling up the plexi is well intended no doubt, but i have to disagree with that idea due to the fact that the two layers would resonate and create a nice buzz sound I am wilingl to bet!
Yea I think Ill go with 1 inch thick because the area I have to cover is 22 3/4 x 11 inches. Thanks for the info.
There is a company on ebay that sells acrylic and plexi. I have bought a ton of plastic off of them they are great. Their names are estreetplastics. They have a ebay store.
