i just recieved a MTX class D subwoofer amp that looks to be about 2 years old with 2 12" rockfords in a sealed box...i have this system in my 2001 honda civic EX coupe. i was wondering if anyone knew how to properly tune this amp so my subs get the best sound in my vehicle. can somebody please help me on how to tune my gain and frequency to the optimum sound level. any information would be greatly appreciated...thanks!! i just want these things to give me the best bass as they possibly can!
My subs are the Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2 12". My amp is the MTX Audio Thunder81000D. Please help make my amp and subs sound good together!!
First adjust the crossover, as high as you can before you hear audio distortion Id say upper 70 or 80 hz is where most people tune their system too..
how do i adjust the crossover?? and i dont really have any info on the subs bc i bought them used...can u suggest anyway for me to find out the impendence of them??
Take them out of the box and look on the magnet. Crossover is a setting on the amp....look on the ends of the amp...you'll find some knobs and they will tell you what they are
aznboi3644 is right on the money. If sub says nothing, use google search look up the brand and match what looks simular to your's . the crossover usually says lowpass or highpass depending on you're amp. Can't miss it numbers start at like 39 or 45 and stop at 80 or 300 depending on amp.
my subs are 2 ohm impendence. my subs are in a sealed box in my trunk...can you try and lead me in the right direction on how to tune my amp so my subs produce the best sound
HX2 subs are all dual voice coil from what I can see. Does the sub have one set of wire terminals or two sets. If it has two sets it is DVC. Its either RFD2212 - 12" Punch HX2 DVC (4 ohm x 2) subwoofer or RFD2112 - 12" Punch HX2 DVC (2 ohm x 2) subwoofer
when we installed the subs into the sub box they only had one set of wire terminals on each sub. so i guess that means its a single voice coil right??
if there is only one set of plugs on each one. It would in my head. I can't find any info on the Rockford site about these subs except the dual voice coil ones. But if it is in fact a single voice coil 2 ohm sub. You can wire the pair into a 1ohm load or 4 ohm load depending on what the amp can take. Is your amp 1 ohm stable?
well just looked up that amp and its only 2ohm stable to you will have to wire them into a 4 ohm load. 2 ohm load is the best that amp can do but your voice coil set up doesnt allow you to do that unless you just wire up one sub.
looking at rockford fosgates website. They dont even have a listing for single voice coil 2 ohm set up in their wiring calculator... something isnt right. Either those are single 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm .
There site doesn't have ALL of their woofers made. Well you can either sell that amp or wire the subs in series for 250 watts rms to each sub. I would sell that amp and get a 1 ohm stable amp
