i have found my next amp. www.sundownaudio.com. the sx-1500 is bulletproof and check out the specs. and these are real specs. 86 percent efficient. i am impressed. and it small. watch this company. i predict a bunch of trophies sq and spl before its all over with. i believe i will become a dealer. im telling you guys this is the best sub amp i have seen in a long time. Anybody else on here tried one of these?
Hmmmmm. Interesting. The power supplies appear to be enough to keep up with the output section, visually that is. Good ol class ab bi polars, i like that. The heat sink appears to be more for looks than functionality however. Needs more surface area in my opinion. when you get one, let us know how it performs!
We did a outdoor test session with 4 1500D's straped together (10kW) and the sun heated them up more then the power. They will dissipate a lot of heat the casing is thicker then the pics show. The SAZ-1500D is a straight class D amp.
Fairly new...they are pretty tough and put out more than rated power. Some people on the Sundown Audio forum tested their amps at an average of 1700 watts rms at 1 ohm
They aren't just a good deal for the price. The $450 is an introductory sale offered until the end of January and is ridiculously low for what you get considering that is from an authorized dealer with full warranty! You can find quite a few test results out there showing what these amps can do: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8558 * Strapped paid did 5677 watts @ 17.9 volts dropping to 15.5 volts http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8077 * 1510 watts @ 1 ohm on a real subwoofer load @ 12.4 volts * 1635 watts @ 1 ohm on a real subwoofer load @ 12.8 volts These are high end amplifiers. They aren't "good for the money" or "budget" amplifiers. They will easily compete with anything with an MSRP remotely close to them. Keep in mind that Sundown is *not* primarily a direct internet brand, and that we also don't allow e-bay sales. You won't find these at cut-rate prices. Walk into a local dealer and compare pricing vs. Memphis or something like that and you will see that they are under-priced for the performance if anything
There is more to a heatsink than what it looks like The thermal resistance and dissipation qualities of the heatsink are more than adequate for extended usage even on tough loads. At NOPI Nationals our demo truck had a pair running at 0.5 ohms each for up to 4 hours at a clip at full bore... only hitting protection when supply voltage fell below 11 volts since they have under-voltage protection. They came right back on when we charged the batteries back up
o.k. guys i had a customer from another state come into the shop today with one of these amps. This is the best amp on the market right now that i have used. I tried to make it get hot and it did not . it actually produces so much power its hard to believe. i snatched (well got another installer and strained our ass off) my solo xs out of my car and hooked them up to this amp. it powered the crap out these subs. not to there full potential. they are in really small sealed enclosures. but it was impressive. i will be buying 2 this month. no doubt about it.
