Hey guys, just wondering what type of amp i would need to run this set up. I dont know a lot about this stuff so explain as simple as possible thanks http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/manualsQuickInstall/thunderforms/NTTNK04_specs.pdf
Get an amp in the area of 2-400 watts..........would do just fine. the more power, the louder and the more dyjnamic range you will have. Brands? they all suck.......well, cept for OS orion...... i would look into a Soundstream amp......... my current favorite for some odd reason i dont care to even try and explain.
alright well do i need to be looking at the watts in the main description of an amp or the rms? also, on the descriptions of some amps i see it says like 125W x 2 or x1 or something like that... what does that mean and what should i be looking for?
also, should i be looking for a specific # of ohms, and do i need mono or 2 channel? and what does it mean if it says rms x 1 bridged or x 2 bridged? thanks guys, i know this stuff comes second nature to you all but not so much for me so i appreciate the help.
well, the overall impedance of the box claims to be 4 ohms...........so.............. If it were ME, i would get a 2 channel amp capable of running 2 ohms. then bridge the amp in mono on the subs. DONT buy an amp that is 1 ohm stable....you wont load it down hard enough to get full rated power, get a 2 ohm stable stereo amp that will bridge into mono. THAT wouod be your best bet.
Oh, and look at RMS power, dont pay no nevermind to the "peak" power.......The RMS is the more realistic number.............
ok well i dont really know what bridging means lol, but would one of these be an example of a good amp for this system? http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qYTj3qoZvJ6/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=489HA1000 http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qYTj3qoZvJ6/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=108R311A http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qYTj3qoZvJ6/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=489AP1000M I feel like I'm getting closer to purchasing a system so once again i thank you for your help
I've had that Baja 1000....it does the job...tougher than I thought too...ran it 3 ohm stereo for awhile and beat the hell outta it....it just kept pushing out power...sucks a lotta current though I'd get this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WB9TNVgoQFD/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=113KAC7202
My preference would be a mono (1 channel) amp. All you have to do when your looking for one is to look at the rms @2 ohms. I would go with something around 400 rms @2 ohms. ________ WENDIE 99
Teamcsw has some NOS Orion 3752's that will put out 375W X 1 @ 4 ohms for a mere $100 plus shipping that would power that box nicely.
ok well ive decided to get 2 of these: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/MTX-...47569/catOid/-13093/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do so all i need to decide now is what amp to get. just wondering if this would be a good one to run those: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat03087&id=1134701297803
With those subs you'll have a 2 ohm final load when paralleled so I'd get this amp....more power, more head room, better sound, less likely to clip the amp http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14933
although, it WILL blow those subs as they are not rated to take more than 400 watts and that amp can easily put out more than 400 just be careful with the gains
or may i suggest this kenwood http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14934 if it IS 1 ohm stable like it says.. you could add another or even 2 more of those same subs to the system and still be pushing them with the same amp. If you ever plan on upgrading in the future
Either the 9102 or 9152 will work...just properly set your gains...it'll sound and perform much better than the Alpine
