Kicker vs JL Audio

If you mostly listen to rap then I would recommend the L7s. They will give you more output and you won't miss the SQ of the W7. Older model Check pickups have lots of room so if you can go ported that would be your best bet. I'd say 4 cubic ft @ 35 Hz with at least 800 watts on each sub. If you don't have the room to go ported, then 3 cubes sealed with the same power.

 

Kicker won the world sound quality title (DTS Challenge) using their square woofers...and people think the squares have bad sound quality eh??

ok E i hear nothing but good things from both JL and kicker.but the kickers do put out more power into lower loads. 2 ohms .so you can maximize the power from their amps.

so i guess for the "more boom for your buck" do the kicker amp/s.
you can find a 700.5 5 ch for 300 or so on line.
400 for bass,300 mids/highs.

well. here's my deal... I have a 12 inch w7 with a 500/1 amp and I was louder and more tight than my buddy's two 12inch solo X T's running close to 2200 watts. so there you go.

But then again. I've heard a single 8 inch kicker square sub in a big box running off a planet audio 250 watt setup and sounded just as good as a 12inch W1 running the same amp - and this was all in a honda wagon.

but on the other hand, we installed two 8 inch W7's in a dodge full cab and they were AMAZING. granted they were running off a 1000/1.

moral of the story... everything sounds like ****, just some better than others. lol

 

Um...with 2200 watts your buddy should being running two 12 inch L7's

That is nowhere near the SoloX's potential..with 2200 whats two L7's would prolly be louder
