Hi !! Im new to the whole car audio thing anyway might as well go ahead and ask my first question lol http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3UJvZ8i4xGK/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?I=500SWE1242 Well, Friend gave me a set of these for free. (They are the older style/model type-e though) I was curious, What kind of amp should i get for these to get the best possible results? Also this is my first system and im putting it a Ford Focus Zx3, Would it matter if i had them facing eachother or the rear glass or what? Thanks in advance for all helpful responses <3
Hi, and welcome to the site! For best possible performance as you state, you will want an amp capable of delivering about 300-500 watts total to both of these subs. Any quailty amp will do fine. Preferably one that wil be stable to one ohm in bridged/mono mode. Ideally, for the simplest and easiest way to make it go boom boom, fire both subs in the same direction from the same side of a box, keeps things less critical....
I really dont like reccomending amps, if i say brand "x", then someone else will say that it is junk and brand "y" is better!!!!! Kenwood seems to be a popular choice around here, I am sure some of the others will give you a better idea on brands in a while.! But any quality brand name amp from a reputable car audio dealer will do you fine usually.....Listen to the amp if at all possible!!!
Well, I really dont know what to look for as in Wattage and Rms and so forth, So anything you or anyone else can recommend would be helpful
they would sound nice in a properly sized ported box facing upwards so that the port is pointed at the roof and welcome
get a "mono block" with an RMS rating of what the sub is. make sure it's the same Ohms too. this amp will do the job http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5B0Pt0v6A92/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=500MRPM650
Um...those subs need a really big ported box to have a flat response...if you'll notice that there is no ported box volume recommendation. I'd put them in a medium sized sealed box. My friend has a set of these also in a prefab big ported box...it doesn't really sound all too good...it does go boom boom but the lower frequencies just aren't there. If you enter the params into WinISD two of these are gonna need like a 5 cu ft box to not have a super peaky response He has a Coustic 401DB....it has more than enough power for these.
