just wondering if any of you guys on here have atv's or ride them to give me a little background info about which companies are good, etc.

i want one that is sporty, yet can be used to haul, tow, etc

    eh. Whatever floats your boat.

I ride MX like dirtbikes, and I love the sport.

I could not tell you not or to get it, b/c I would just tell you to get a banshee and race it. Which is expensive.

Buy a Yamaha. I think they are the best, If you need something to haul stuff with, look into the Wolverine, Kodiak

If you want a snappy little machine get a Blaster, if you want a awesome trail machine, Get a Warrior, if you wanna hurt yourself, get a Banshee, If you wanna Kill yourself, Get a Raptor. :p

    Well basically what luvdabass said.

Depends what your going for, if you want a fast quad I would go for the you know, Banshee's, Raptors, Warriors, Blasters, 400ex, stuff like that I am not really a quad person.

But if you want to do towing and shit, I'd say like 4wd ones, Suzukis.

Suzuki 4 wheelers suck @ss, they make a decent motocross bike but other than that.........

For four-wheelers, stick with Yamaha,Honda, Kawasaki......or if you are really old and just want to putt around ,get Polaris :p

I dunno. We went to an ATV drag race last Sunday and Ms B's 14yo son took a 2nd in Utility class on a 300 Polaris 2wd automatic. Handled EVERYTHING in the 10 entry class except for a 660 Kodiak(?). The embarrasingly slow one was an Artic Cat.

There was a seperate class just for the little short wheel base Blasters and Thrashers(oh, something else almost like it) but the real show was all the modifieds and open class machines. Wheelie bars were std equipment with lots of crome, trick bits and expansion chambers as big around as paint cans. That special smell of racing fuel hung heavy and some even had NO2... and it showed.

What amazed me the most was folks had probably $8-$15k dollars in their machine plus a $15k shop/trailer behind a new $45k crew cab to win a couple hundred bucks tops.

Oh yeah, a Cannondale was a consistant winner and a fine piece of engineering too.

four wheelers are cool, I want to get one some time, but right now they are no where near the top of my list of things to buy....

As for the "old man on a Polaris "thing ....I just said that because they are automatic...no shifting, alot of older people like that.

Personally, I prefer manual clutch, you have more control over the machine, and you can stay in the power-band at all times if you are an aggresive rider. I used to do some crazy stuff on four wheelers. There is a small gravel pit near my house, which turned into my daily race track for awhile :p I would jump that thing so high......... Sometimes I would scare myself cause I would hit a step-jump in third gear wide open, but I would hit it wrong, and it would kick the back end up.......almost went over the handlebars a couple of times.....heheheh

I had an old Honda 350 and it smoked a Polaris in acceleration(mine was a manual, the polaris was an auto) but in top speed, the Polaris beat me.
