Go to different stores and bring your own cd(s) and listen to different speakrs...see what you like

As for subs...I don't recommend Bazooka tubes...I just don't like them lol.

    Budget please...total???

thats not much, but you can buy either mids and highs or a cheap sub/amp combo.

if it was me i would do the mids and highs 1st.
do you have an aftermarket radio or the stock?if stock then get a new head 1st.

If your on a limited budget, you need to wiegh out what you REALLY want......If its more bass hooked into the factory deck, fine.....If its better sound qualitty fine, please be more specific in your needs and wants and we can help guide you in your decision.

Head as in when a girl puts her mouth over your errhh....never mind

Head unit means a new cd player basically...a new cd player will greatly improve sound quality.

    What vehicle do you have???

I've done a couple installs with all factory stuff but just added some subs and an amp and they sounded damn good...but the factory system sounded great from the start so it helped a lot...making a sub system work with a crappy factory system sucks

If you only have about 300 bucks, i would reccomend a decent 150 dollar HU, (head unit, or CD/radio) then invest the other 150 bucks in a nice set of front speakers, or split the cost between dront and rear speakers...that will give you the most bang for your buck........save a little bit more, then say fo another 300 bucks, add a basic sub/amp package deal for the bottom end.....It does not take a huge amount of money to get good sound if you do it in steps and shop wisely

yeah i would invest in a $150 hu and another 150 for component speakers, nothing with crazy wattage though cause ive seen rear 6x9's that were 250 watts an my jaw dropped and they were 2ohms so... something like 50 watts at 4 ohms would do good

oh hey aznboi he already mentioned what kind of car he had...

Well your gonna need a new head unit first and some speakers...then work on the sub bass

For the speakers make sure they are mounted solidly and put some sound dampener around the speakers...or you can poly-bag em...ask Viking how lol...hes old

    yep, that is right!

Poly bagging is simply taking several layers of heavy mill plastic (5 or 6 layers, give or take) shoving it into the speaker hole to create a cavity, or enclosure if you will. fill it full of dacron, then mount the speaker, and trim off the excess plastic from around the speaker once it is mounted. This prevent moisture contamination, helps to bampen door resonace, and helps eliminate back waves from the speaker being re-radiated through the speaker cone..... Or just get the foam baffles and stuff them with dacron, but i am a cheap ass so i prefer polybagging!!!
