Do all 15 inch sub boxes support 15 inch subs same with 12 inch subs and 12 inch boxes. Im thinking of buying a box online and was wondering if my subs will even fit.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! each sub has its own set of required parameters that need to be met!!!! Of course, a "generic" box will work, that is keeping the back wave of the woofer from cancelling the front wave of the woofer....which DOES NOT translate into the best box....... each and every woofer has its own nees, if the box is built to meet the woofers nees it will perform GREAT!!!!!! This holds true for ALL speakers, whether they are 12 dollar pyramid 15 inchers, or 500 dollar kickers....... as a matter of fact a well designed box for a cheap woofer will outperform a poorly designed box for an expensive woofer..every time.......YES its true.......Dont let your buddies who "know everything about car audio" tell you different............
I try to tell customers that every day. But they are so brain washed they believe that all they need are JL's, Infinity's or Kicker's. Busted51, if your not familiar with using design software, then I would highly recommend building a box, following the manufactures recommendations.
well i know the recommended box is sealed and it needs to have 2.18 cubic feet. the one online that i found is 2 cubic feet. does that .18 make that much difference.
Sealed enclosures are very forgiving. You should have no problem using a 2 cu.ft. box. I would recommend stuffing the box with some Acoustic Fill or some Dacron. It fools the woofer into thinking its in a slightly larger enclosure. Anyway build your own, its more fun that way.
A little on the small side??? Hmmmmm, might be a projct for an aperiodoc "membrane" Havent messed with one of those in a long long time......
