I was wondering if anyone knew if it was even possible to fix a burnt voice coil. And if so help with any forums would be great. I am not sure how it was even possible that a voice coil got burnt up in a 12" Alpine X-type, the jumpers were hooked up right and everything. But when i lift the sub up or down u can hear one of the voice coils rattling around. Any suggestions on repair or just throw it away lol. I bought it from a friend so there is no warranty.

It is very possible to blow a type x....my friend blew his two with his two mrd 1005's

Impossible to fix a burnt coil...some subs can be sent in and rebuilt

Your only option is keep that sub in its enclosure in your car and hook it up to a wall socket or a surge protector and see how loud it is...then buy a new woofer

Most manufactures can "recone" the wppfer, which is replacing pretty much everything except the magnet and frame
