I own a 1990 Talon TSi AWD and the car came with a JVC Headunit that I want to swap out and the speakers are stock I would like a sub as well but I dont want rediculous loud and earth shaking system, I like my music to be quality and my bass to compliment the music and not shake my car so hard it sounds like it's going to fall apart.
Budget???? Headunit - theres a crapload of options here...money chooses it though...I'd prefer one with a built in high pass crossover. Sub - I'd say one 10 inch or 2 inch Boston Acoustics G1 or G2 Speakers - don't HAVE to replace them...but if you want budget still remains a big factor
When I buy quality stuff I do it when I can afford I dont limit my money or options that's what makes it hard for anything I dont like holding back. I was kind of thinking about doing an entire Eclipse system.
ok lol...well you said u do it when you can afford it...so like buying everything at once or upgrade one little thing at a time?
what's wrong with going eclipse, then? I hear nothing but great about thier components, and I personally love thier head units and amps.. check this out! http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2005 hehehe...
Well the question I have about eclipse is will their speakers and subwoofer be what I'm looking for? I just don't want rush right into something without some advice or knowledge. Aznboi, I tend to do things 1 at a time since I have an aftermarket headunit I'll start with speakers then head unit then a 4 channel amp then do sub and mono amp together.
ok I'm going to come up with a set up and you guys can rate it if it's good or not for my needs. Headunit: Eclipse CD5000 Front Speakers: Eclipse SC8264 Components Rear Speakers: Eclipse SC8498 6x9's 4 Channel amp: ???? 12" Subwoofer: Eclipse SW7200 Mono Amp: Eclipse XA1000
hey, dan.. if you're patient enough to do this one step at a time, then I totally recommend starting with a higher quality head unit. - the 5000 is great, but if you're wanting to do it right, then you won't be dissapointed that you spent the extra cash at the "control center". check out the 8445 or the 8450 and then we'll talk about the rest later..
is there something special about the 8445 and 8450? I don't see it on the eclipse site it's just CD1000 - CD7000
Forgot that I have 2 12" Kicker Solobaric S12D subs (the old school circle ones) would that be ok for my needs or would that rattle my car?
The CD8445 is last years model. The CD5000 is basically the same thing as last years CD8455. Eclipse HU's are great I use a CD7000 and I love it. As for subs I would spend a little more and get a SW8000 and push it with a DA7122. Remember that you will only be pushing about 650 to the sub with that amp. The SW8k uses the LMT driver, it sounds very good and is very musical. For a highs amp you could go with either the XA4000 or EA4000. For your rear speakers go with the SP6900's. I never found those 3/4way speakers to be worth jack ****. Now unless you have to have your entire system eclipse I would go with Cadence for your amps. I think they sound better and cost less then Eclipse. With the CD5000 you will have good control over your sound and time allignment. This setup will be a solid musical system for Rock/Metal etc. Cadence website is www.cadencesound.com So if I were to recomend a system it would be this... Headunit - Eclipse CD5000 FrontStage - Eclipse SC8264 RearFill - Eclipse SP6900 Subwoofer - Eclipse SW8000/8200 FrontStage Amp - Cadence TXA-3004 75x4 rms Sub Amp - Cadence TXA-3002 600x1 at 4ohm bridged
