So I had a old Pioneer HU and it broke on me. I finally got myself the Alpine 9852 and here's the problem: I disconnected the adapter harness that goes to the car so I can wire that up to the new Alpine harness. I soldered all the wires together and the thing is, when I plug everything in, the HU turns on, but not only does my right side has no sound, but the car doesn't start anymore !! Thought it might have been the battery or the fuses but checked all that and it's fine. When I turn the car on, the alternator is cranking but it's not catching the spark or wat not. Tried jump starting the car and now the car doesn't even crank. W T F Anybody got any ideas? BTW... its a 98 Nissan Altima. Appreciate the help.
that's a new one.. - I'd recheck your connections, although I doubt anything you did in that portion of the dash would affect the cars ignition. - I'm with wierd.. seems like you may have disturbed the chi of the ignition..
If you checked the voltage of the battery and its ok, follow the power wire back to the starter motor and check the voltage at the starter. If you are getting voltage at the starter it could be your starter mortor or maybe you could have a bad ignition switch. If the battery is good like you said, those are the first two thing that I would check out.
