Sorry for the title I didn’t know what to write. I installed a system on my own, and everything went well until I installed a pos fosgate amp, which after hours of troubleshooting I find out its no good because it is putting out .5v on the input side of the AMP. Which screwed up 3 HU, a pioneer AVIC D1 and two AVIC Z1. I just wanted to know if there was a simple way to fix the HU's or if I am just SOL. I just hope that My HU backfeed by .5V is not enough to permanently destroy them. Any help please...
Is that point 5 volts or 5 volts you stated? Sorry my eyesight is not perfect! It looks like .5 volt to me so i will go with that.............. When you measured the voltage, was it on the AC or DC scale? also, I doubt that that low of voltage would have destroyed any outputs on a HU or any other component. If you want to test them to see if they are OK, hook them up in another car or to a 12 volt power supply and some home audio equipment using the RCA's......... Test the equipment you think is fried, i bet it is OK from wha you have said.....If not then the only real way to get the equipment working again is to send it in and have it repaired. Now, why is the amp sending voltage out on the RCA's???????/ Take it to a KNOWLEDGABLE shop, have them put it on the test bench and check it out. It may be the amp is screwed, or if it shows OK, then you have an install issue. cant really help you out more than this without more detailed info..... In all my years of car audio, I dont recall ANY amp EVER sending out voltage on the inputs.....
Its (.5v). I am kinda positive that’s what did it. I had the D1 in and it played perfectly, my Z1 arrived, I installed it with no Amps and it played fine, My 4 channel Alpine and my Fosgate arrived and it played fine but the Subs didn’t works (Fosgate). While troubleshooting I place the RCA for the Fogate into the component output, I plugged the Alpine back in and the sound was distorted, I plug the D1 back in and works fine.... so I assumed defective Z1, Trouble shooting again I Did the same thing and the D1 did the same as the Z1 now I completely Confused. New Z1 arrives and the same thing happens, so break out the Voltmeter and that’s the only suspicious thing I find. I can send the Z1 back in but that’s gonna cost me shipping and I wanted to get some money back for selling my D1 but I cant sell the D1 if its jacked. Just hoping there was a simple fix that could save me time and money. Thanks
