I want to get a stereo system put in my passport but I'am not sure what to get because I don't know that much about car audio. I want to spend around $1000, will that get me something somewhat good?

buy my subs 400 shipped to your door with box

    3 JL Audio 12w6's

ask anyone on the forum they kick ass and are well worth the money only if you wanna be herd from blocks away and have enough bass to shatter glass with the right amp

Awww come on guys, this guys budget is 1000. you want him to spend almost 50% of his budget just on subs. He will need a monster amp, At least 350 to 500 dollars just to push those subs with decent power. Of course you need probably 1 awg wire, fuse holders and of course you will need an amp with low level inputs cause you wont be able to afford an head unit with pre outs cause your budget is gone. Would that box even fit in the back of a passport?? You should buy a head unit with at least front, rear and sub preouts with minimum 4 volt output then checkout cruthcfield.com, they can help you find some decent speakers to replace your factory ones. infinities and Alpines are pretty good to start with. they can help you find a headunit that will fit your passport as well. then just buy a decent amp and a nice 12 inch woofer and you should be good at least for a starter system. If you want to go crazy and buy the 3 JL subs, well its a pretty ok deal but im not sure your electrical system in your Honda could handle a big amplifier without some upgrades.

i have them running fine in my 97 caddy and it draws power for EVERYTHING MAD POWER and never had any problems at all or in my 83 trans am before that and fyi i have a 350.2 kicker running them while my US-AMP de-1000 is being repaired and that kicker which does more like 400 rms pounds those jl 12s to hell and back

you want a killer deal here then
ill give you my sony hu plays mini movies in the back paid 170 for it for 60 bucks
    my kicker amp for 120
    and the subs for 400
so for 580 bucks + maybe like 30 more shipping for the amp and hu what ever it may cost which is a tad over half his budget he will have a system which will pound the heck outta that honda

sabian.. those are great speaks, don't get me wrong, but blowing 1/2 you budget on subs will not allow for much else.

You need a big (expensive) amp to power those - oh, yes.. they LIKE lots of power!

and you're not allowing much left for Head unit, mid and high speaks, wiring, crossovers, sub enclosure, etc..

what is most important to you about the setup that you want to put together? - good sound, or loud bass?
Do you need new door speaks? Do you already have a good aftermarket HU?

I need to know more, and then we can let the helping begin.:)
