Trying to install a 600watt pioneer amp in my boat.
No very little about amps. I think I have it hook up right. But
when I turn on the raido at low volume. It works, but if I if I turn it up,
the sound go out. I have the amp up front and run the ground to the
back of the boat to the battery. HELP!!!

I recomend mounting the amp with 4 or 5 feet of the battery if possible, and use 8 gauge wire minimum, for both the power and ground wires. It is better to run long speaker wires and rca's in this situation than it is to run LONG power and ground wires. If you were usinf small gauge wire for the power wires (12-16ga.) then the amp will have a serious voltage drop due to the excecive resistance in the long small wires.

If you have to mount the amp at a great distance from the battery, then use at least 4 Ga. wire for both power and ground.

That sounds like what your problem is

There is no problem grounding the amp to the battery...sorry Viking. Also what gauge wire are you running?

Your problem may be that you have your gains set too high.

Did you just turn your gain and/or bass boost(if you have one on that amp) up to the max. This could be the problem.

Or another problem could be that the amp is wired at an impedance load that it cannot handle and it is going into protection.

    Huh??????/

I NEVER said not to ground the amp to the battery, WTF???????

In a boat, fibregalass especially, that is the best way.......

Part or the problem was low battery. Now ,I have a whine noise coming
    from my left front speaker.

the easiest way to get rid of the noise from the speaker is to disconnect it!!!!LOL!!!!!!!

Try making sure that the rca cables are way from the power wires, and be sure that the head unit is grounded within the same point of the amp. fer starters!
