I plan on purchasing two 10" subs for my car in the near future. Out of what Best Buy sells what sub would you purchase? Also which amp would you buy? (These are for a sealed box)

    Thanks

I agree.. the mtx subs are great..alpines are okay too.., but I would steer clear of the sony amps, though.. My brother is an engineer for sony, and insists that they are turning out nothing but terds.. I like kenwood amps, they're a little overrated, but they're rigid, and the jbl amps are rock solid and pocket friendly.

What is everyone's opinion on infinity subs and amps? I just saw the best buy is carrying those now.

I like infinity. not stock infinity, though - like infinity gold packages - they are just not that durable. they wouldn't be my first choice, but they sound pretty good for the money, and look cool. However, I don't know a thing about the amps, but I like the subs better than sony any day!;)

i have had good luck with infinity woofers. good output and awesome sq even from the refrence line. the amps are true rated so you cant go wrong. for some reason the thd on the infinity amps is rather high....

    LS,

Well first are you looking for nice SQ or just plain SPL?
How much are you willing to drop for an amp? sub?

I would recommend the Kenwood 9102D. This is a pretty good amp. I had mine hooked up to my friends two Type R 12's in a custom vented box I had built. Sounded loud and pretty good sound quality. Another nice amp is the new infinity mono amp BEST BUY has.

For two 10's from BEST BUY. Well first BEST BUY doesn't even sell MTX so cancel that for whoever said get MTX. I agree that MTX's do sound nice and punchy.
    Alpine 10's - smooth
    Rockford P1's - punchy
" P2/P3 - loud but the Type R's have better SQ
    Type R - loud
Pioneers - sound alright, dont like new look
    Power Acoustics - muddy

Also, the Alpine MRP-M650 is a pretty tough amp. I would say get a Rockford amp, but I personally think that they overprice those for the wattage they put out. And they tend to get really hot. I mean hot enough to burn you. My friend had this Fosgate amp mounted on top of this box just under the middle tail light in his Buick Regal and it got so hot that it melted the glue or whatever was holding the light. Now it just dangles and looks crooked from the outside lol.

    Just my $0.02

Of course I would recommend you get 2 12" woofers from Kea Audio, what else? They got great impulsive sound, massive magnets and lots of powerhandling and high SPL what more can you ask for?
Otherwise what do you think about 12 pieces of 6.5" woofers with fs= 30Hz and 200 Watt each? That will give you an SPL of 100db/1Watt/1metre, or in other words 110dB with 10Watts and 120dB with 100Watts and this from 30Hz upwards. If this does not make your heart stop then what?
