I need a Remote Turn on type of part...

    I'm not sure if this even exists, but I need a box that is like the Remote Turn On for an amp. What I want to do is take the wire that runs to the light in my trunk, cut it and run it into this box, so when I open my trunk it turns the box on which then lets power run through it. So I would have a power wire going into the box then all my lights' wires running out of the box. So it would be like the REM component of an amp, just instead of turning on an amp it will let power flow through. So basically all I want to do is make it so all the lights in my trunk will only be on when I open my trunk. I know I could just install a few switches but this would be cleaner and better in my opinion. Thanks

    If I'm reading correctly, all you need is a relay. Basically you'll be turning the coil on from you light in the trunk. The contact will be connected from a power source (your battery or tap it from the power going to your amp) and to your lights. You should be able to get the relay from radio shack. Make sure the contact will support the current (amps) that your lights will consume. I like your idea. I was thinking of doing it by switches but I like your idea a lot better! :D

    Yeah, me too actually. I bought a few switches but then thought better of it cuz I didn't want to have to switch them all to get the lights on. Thanks for the advice on the relay. I talked to my dad today and he knows more about electronics then me so he suggested a relay also.
