I hit 110 MPH in a stock civic lx..........surprisingly I felt safe at that speed. I could have kept going but I felt that if a cop was anyhwere near I could not risk losing my license.
110 the governor hits on my car 130 is the max ungoverned its not about topspeed... its how fast you can get to that speed.
at 110 my computer stops me, but I still have 1/2 of my motor left at 110 in 4th gear my Tach reads 3,000 rpm on a 6500 red line
I saw a stock civic lx today with a license plate frame saying "Civic Type R." I have no problem with ricing out to a point (it doesnt have to go fast just to look nice) but don't advertise you have something you do not.
Re: Re: Re: top speed lol I've actually seen someone driving a riced out (huge ass ugly wing, stickers, exhaust, etc) grand am with that type r, I mean at least that Toyota guy had the right country lol.
Top speed? HAH!!! my speedo reads to 80mph. I can turn a quarter mile in 11.84seconds at 119 mph, sooo... I'm not sure on that. I drove my old bosses '91 ZR1 and I pegged the speedo at 170 or 180 (he had it chipped) in 5th gear. I still had 1/3 of 5th gear and all of 6th to go. It was amazing how that car just grabbed the road. Long smooth turns at that speed are frighteningly sharp, but the car gripped admirably. I did it going down the 5 fwy in SOCAL between San Diego and Laguna Hills.
friends with a Duke over in England...he happens to have a little car hobby...so every year he has a festival at his estate...he goes all out...even has a track constructed...Naturally McLaren was there...It's funny, i drove the F1 then a viper...how many people can say the viper sucked??? but it was quite an experience...and this guy is really cool.
I don't like vipers. I've driven them and the new vettes as well. I'd rather drive a 308GTB than a Viper.
Pics please, you have to be shitting me if you didn't take pics. Until then.....:bs: And guys, you have to remember your speedos aren't exactly accurate. You need a GPS or similar device in the car. And even if you do produce pics of the speedo, how do we know that your wheels were not jacked off the ground? Pic of your GPS, please.
Uhh, wheels off the ground?? Ever seen a tire spin with no resistance? It's not pretty. That would be a very un-wise thing to do, even at very low wheel revolutions. GPS as in Global Positioning System?? Those things are 10x more inaccurate than speedometers, save for the military editions. Unless you're tlaking about something I'm not familiar with.....
