my buddy got a 2k4 f150, and i cannot figure out how to get the trim piece around the stereo out. i know there are 2 clips at the bottom of it that i can partially dislodge, but i did not want to break it, so i didnt apply any more pressure, as i already had put quite a bit of pressure on it.

    anybody know?

    thanks,
    eric

I haven't so much as been in a new Ford truck yet, other than seeing pictures in magazines.

With the rave reviews the magazines have been giving that interior...saying it's of European quality...

Ford finally gets an interior right, and you want to rip it apart? :p

j/k... I thought I'd at least rub it in, since I can't help.

you might call the dealership and see is

    a> anyone there knows

b> they have the trim piece in stock so you can look at one out, that will give you an idea of the type of clip and how to remove it

I've never been impressed by a domestic car interior until this new truck  :jawdrop:

I think you've got the idea now

I wish this truck were mine...not only is the interior well done, but I hate domestic vehicles, and I'm thoroughly impressed and want one now

Wow, I guess you gyus like that kinda look. No offense to anyone here, but, I think this is teh ugliest ford yet. But, hey, I absolutely love the chevy interior, which everybody keeps saying is outdated, but......

    I completely agree...
what good is a pickup truck when you cant even reach in the bed to put stuff in?
shame on Ford for making their trucks look ugly

but back to the topic...if i know what piece youre talking about...im pretty sure it just pops off after some pressure...i think theres 3 clips...2 on top and one on bottom...but i might be way off...
being hard to get into isnt a bad thing...
once i can get into my truck(96 gmc) i can be out of it with my $890(retail...i paid 550) Pioneer Premier DEH-P940MP in about 10 seconds...literally...

I've been complaining about the bed height on full-size trucks for years.

Would you really ever take a $40K truck offroad anyway? Really.

Lower the damn thing (make sure to pass on 4wd so you can), get the ride height more like a car, makes the thing not only handle better, but it gets the truck to a height where you can actually load things into the bed. B)

But then how in the world do you climb over all those potholes in the freeway?

i dont see the bed height on this f150 as a problem. is it 4x4? yes. does it have the offroad suspension? yes.

its not so much WOULD we, but have we? yes many times. when you have a creek running through the middle of your property, and you have buildings on both sides of the creek and fields out there, you do need ground clearance. we live out in the boondocks where 4x4 is a requirement during the winters, because you WILL get stuck in your home otherwise (and even sometimes you'll STILL get snowed in). oh and btw, the truck didnt make it out of the lot without getting scratches in the bed from stuff taken out of the OLD truck. :bye:

oh yeah, and the trucks owner is 6'3", 245 lbs, and he's the smallest of his redneck family. his brothers are 6'5" and 6'10", tipping the scales at nearly 3 bills each. they dont fit it anything else.

my buddy also happens to do metals testing on ALL metal parts on all makes of cars and only rolls royce and ford trucks pass industry standards without having to MAKE the parts pass. its funny when an entire metals testing lab worth of employees will only drive fords.

oh yeah, and as for handling, ask jack roush what theyre using for their new f150 based pickups. theyre starting with the 4x4 off road package for a good handling truck.

lowering a truck is like dating your sister...its morally wrong...
a lowered truck reminds me of someone like this guy...
and btw...4 wheel packages are crap
take the Z-71 off-road package...its nothing more than better shocks, a skid plate, and a sticker...and a 3K price jump....do yourself a favor and get the standard 4x4 and go buy shocks and a skid plate and save yourself a ton of money
the only reason why i would see someone getting a Z-71 is because theyre buying it used and it can be hard to find a 1/2 ton GM 4wd with elec. windows/doors without the Z package
same with Fords FX4 and Dodges Sport

Hey, what purpose does being 2 feet off the ground serve, if you are planted to pavement, as most people are?

It just handicaps you in the corners, as your center of gravity is so high.

Or... maybe I'm just on a forum with a bunch of senior citizens who don't take corners or exit ramps faster than 15MPH? ;)

Hmm... I thought I was one of the older ones around these parts.

Not to mention, trucks at stock height all look lame.
It simply doubly sucks when that stock height is both handicapping to performance AND functionality. Many stock trucks these days, you can't even LOOK into the bed in, much less lift anything over the bed rail... much less gently set anything down on the floor. Ick.

while i can understand this argument, this f150 really only needs slightly larger anti-sway bars. im amazed at how level it stays.
uhh...how about getting a 7200 lb truck to get all 4 tires off the ground? done it.
agreed...so my buddies truck is gonna sit about 3-5" taller

you can argue that stuff needs to be low...i understand your side as i grew up with that mindset, but somehow im changing my opinions, and thats not easy for me to do.

Seriously, this is like import vs. domestic or V8 vs. turbo 4

i can see all sides of the argument, but i must admit...
being a guy who loves a high-lifted old Blazer myself, Geo's lowered pathfinder looks very damn cool. It's just personal opinion and i'm glad not everyone's is the same. Imagine if we all shared the same asshole.

    how tall are you Chris?
i can easily see into the bed...
all stock trucks look the same...
ok ill give you that even though i dont really agree...but thats why my next truck is going up 6" and 35" tires to fill in the fenders B)
and plus...if you lower a truck and try to pull a trailer...its over
youll have way too much weight on the bed sacrficing pick up speed, braking distance, and handling
your trailer will scrape every time you go in to a parking lot...
that and the guy next to you in a real truck would be laughing his ass off when he passed you...
i guess this is my south texan side showing through? :D
