In the meantime I'm between jobs and moving and about to startup school again after 5 years of being done, and thinking I'd actualy found a place in this world, so my world's quite hectic...

I HAVE managed to figure out fiberglassing and make my own box that's recessed into a little cavern in my hatch where it takes up very little useable space. I've had every panel that's mildly close to removeable off in the constant rattle chase, and need to deaden everything. Installed countless stereos for friends over the years, and somehow my own car's constantly a work in progress, Heck I like audio so damn much that I'm pulling the full stainless steel catback exhaust and intake that I'd gotten sweet deals on because they simply add noise to a car that I've workes SOO hard to sounddeaden. SO I'd say I'm kindainto it and an enthusiast, but as evidenced by the eD guys, apparantly still a moron seeing as I don't use a simple oscilloscope to set gains, etc. I've been running a 1.6kw setup for over a year and have finally reached a point of output where I feel it's sufficient, jsut wish toshift that power around a bit, and clean it all up now. I've made my own groundwire kit (using guidelines and even some measurements off of another protege owner's kits mindyou so it's not THAT spectacular)

Thanks man, actually It's sweet for function, but still un-finished seeing as for one I'm lazy and 2 I've all along been pondering making something different. And really IN that community I've got a line of ppl who'll buy it off of me all with different finishng requests. I think its not-bad for a first attempt but there's different things I'll be doing next time. Very satisfying learning experience, though. Fiberglass is cool, just kinda a pain... The tutorial's actually supposedly eventually on the way, but again, lazy*hah* Usually I'd rather pull panels and rattle-chase than do writeups.

 

Hey guys, so I posted this up in another forum as well, but I'll be getting these back form eD as they ARE my property (if they are, indeed MY mids but that's a different story)

At anyrate, I've got no used for speaker remnants, apart from keeping them around as an anti-shrine or something, but really I'd be very interested in seeing what someone else who does have knowledge of blown speakers, etc has to say about them. Apparantly there's some very knowledgeable sorts running around in here, and while I think that'd be a great resource, I'm also considering that an unbiased 3rd party might be preferrable as well. Obviously I'm not going to spend a ton of money to shim them off to a lab or anything, but I kinda figured that rather than seeing pictures and ed's story, someone else could look at the damn things and tell us their own side of it.
