Seth :D Hey man, I remember you mentioning doing the "magic 3" in your car, but you also said you did two others, giving you the "magic 5". Now, I did a search, and can't find the friggin' thread. Soooo, can you list them one more time. I have a bunch of 4 guage and and some time to kill. I might as well get all the wires under the hood upgraded.

    :)

if I Remeber Correctly what he did was to add an Additional Grounds tro the Batt --> Ground and Engine ---> Ground Connections

You ground from battery to block, Battery to frame, Battery to body, then ground block to frame, frame to body.

I found three wires going to ground in my car which I will change:

    Batt to gnd
Power steering pump bracket to gnd
    Transmission to gnd

    Then the +ve wire:

    alt to fuse/relay box
    fuse/relay box to battery +ve

In changing the batt-gnd connection and batt(+ve) to amp, should I just connect
the wire through the nut on the terminal? Or should I get a whole new battery
terminal with several outputs? Guess depends on the *bling* factor I want?

i got a 260 amp alternator installed by dominick iraggi and when I was there talking about upgrading my battery to ground he told me that one of the connections usually associated with the magic three isnt needed at all. Wish I remembered what he told me, so it makes the magic 5 seem like overkill :)

oh well, I still have only upgraded my alternator to battery

    and battery to chasis

need to upgrade my battery to frame badly.

It might be overkill, but I have 60-70 feet of 4 guage just sitting here ;)

It is overkill, but I'd always rather have too much rather than too little. Besides, I run 2 batteries anyways, I want the greatest ground path possible.

Seth also has a car that HAS a frame. ;)

    It's an interesting idea though..
I should do that for my Pathfinder. B)

For most cars on the road, they don't have frames... there really is only a "magic 3".

Even for cars with frames, the ground connection really is made only to the body, generally speaking... meaning that tying your frame into the ground plane wouldn't be necessary. ;)

Why? You're just gonna sell it and buy my truck

Well, hey, believe me, I'm definitely all for that. B)

I suppose you upgraded the "magic 5" in there?

I need to figure out how to lower this P-finder quickly, make it look a little cooler first... Haven't tried these Camaro springs yet... going to cut the top coil off (where it tapers to a little coil) to see how they fit...;)

You're still gonna cut it? Or should I say blah, blah, blah (that is all you hear afterall :p ;) ) Actually, now the wife seems like she want's to keep the truck, so I don't know... She's himmin' and hawin about it... She loves it  .

No magic 5 or magic 3. I just have a small comp amp in it (my digifine... what a great little amp ;) )... no need.

Anyhoo, don't make plans just yet. I may be driving the new car and she may be driving the truck... But in that case, I may have an El Camino for sale

my s10 grounds to the frame...well now it does. im not sure about the factory wires, but i did mine wierd anyway.

i grounded the negative battery terminal to the case of the alt, and went from the alt to the frame. i used 2/0 throughout...is that overkill? :) i took the factory 4 gauge ground that went from the battery negative to the block, and grounded frame to the block. it hits the same ground point as the wire from the alt to the frame.

i guess i need to look into grounding the frame to the body now, since im not sure how its grounded. i only upgraded the two wires mentioned, so i still gotta do the hot wires from the alt to the battery, but didnt have time initially.

anybody know where the block to chassis/body is? looks like 1 more ground i gotta do.

seth, i got a PM im gonna send ya right quick--not really related to this topic :)

The S10 with the 4 cylinder has a ground either to the valve cover bolt at the rear, on the intake (to the side of the evaporator/heater box) or none at all. If there is no direct block-body ground there will be a small ground wire from the battery terminal to the body... maybe a 12 Ga wire or so.

    I just did a motor in a 4 banger S10 last week ;)

Well, whether it's to make it more something that I'd drive...
Or to increase the resale value...
    Either way. ;)

I have to cut the top coil off the spring at any rate, it tapers to a smaller diameter, where the stock Pathfinder springs are constant diameter all the way. ;)

I want to see how much these springs lower the rear of the Pathfinder... because JC Whitney sells lowering springs - in pairs - for only like $100/pair. B)

That makes me wonder, I was starting the Magic # on my CRX, and I noticed something. Just like my VW, I have Bat - > Ground, then at the same spot ground > Engine. But, I have a wire fromthe Engine> Front of the Frame. Why is there that second Engine > Ground on the top of the Engine? I don't get it... AM I missing something?

Speaking of which (a little OT) ...

Does anyone know the web page / contact information for Dominick Iraggi? My dad's suburban needs a new alt, and an HO alt from Dominick would be great. Thanks.
