Anybody Heard Of Polyfilling Ports?

    Mr. Bentwrench over at CAF was talking about this...

    He said that if you polyfill inside the ports it will effectively increase the port length by like 50%...

    I knew they used these in TL designs... but not regular ones.

    Does anyone know how much polyfill should go in the port?

    1 lb per cube?

    Never heard of anybody doing that myself... except perhaps something like an aperiodic enlosure... which is different. (I think)

    It can be used in any port to "increase the length". However, I am not sure of how much to use or what the ratio is as far as polyfil/tuning.

    The reason it is so often seen in TL enclosures is simply due to the length required for an unstuffed port. The ports are VERY long.

    That's what I've been told.... I'll just stuff until I see a good effect.

    Stuffing of ports is kind of a black art. There isnt alot of info on it, and people often do it by ear. I believe it will add a bit of aperiodic nature to the port... but Im not sure. I would think you would have to put chicken wire or something over the port to keep the stuffing from flying out.
