I just found this thread and thought some of you guys may enjoy it. It has Dan, Richard Clark, some guy from Hardon Kardon, and several other REALLY smart people discussing the old woofer speed thing. Man I love those threads. :boxing:
I actually bookmarked that a couple days ago. DW seems to be the only guy that can consistently "hang" with RC...We need a picture of Dan. I still think he doesn't exist...he's more like Hal, in 2001 BTW, the easiest way to learn speaker "stuff" is to do a search on DW on every forum. Geo, War, and Ponte, too.
I give you Geo and Dan (Geo is the really short guy ) Love ya Chris . I'll call you back tonight. I got your message at about 10:30 last night and I didn't want to disturb you.
LOL... [cartman voice] I AM NOT SHORT DAMMIT! [/cartman voice] Dan's just a pretty tall guy. ...and the giant-scale slot machine behind us makes me look small. And it's the horizontal stripes in my shirt. Yep. 5'7" isn't short, is it?
I always pictured geo as a little guy, don't know why . I think the argument on carsound is really over the definition of quick and fast. In my opinion (and terms of drag racing, as well as football), quick deals more with time and fast with velocity. A quarter mile time of 10 seconds is 'quick', while a speed of 150mph is 'fast'. Similarly, in football quickness deals with juking and jiving and change of direction, while being fast is simply running speed. Woofers are techinically faster because they move at a higher velocity, but tweeters are quicker becuase they move more frequently. Of course we'll have to ignore the thesaurus listing them as synonyms .
Sure Chris. You know, I am taller than thos slot machines And don't give me that "large Progressive slot machine" thing either Seriously though, I'll bet I may be a bit taller than Dan. If you are 5'7" I'd put Dan at 6 feet, and I am a bit bigger than that. Of course, my wife is your height . Nah, I'm just kidding, she's only 5'4".
thank you for finding that great thread, sir and while we're at it, I'm 5'5", if anyone's wondering ^ she likes short guys B) Jeff
I know it.........I ate my carrots and potatoes, but I dunno what went wrong. About the music, I kept looking, but the net was going so slow, and now I've forgotten the name of the band again, or what I was supposed to download. I really wanted to though. I'll have to go look at the AIM log and see what you said to get.......... Jeff
I'm a 6 footer, and 300 pounds to boot... What's scary is that our Sales Manager, Chris Brunhaver, is even bigger than me. Add Marshall in to the mix, and our room at CES will feature some big boys... Dan Wiggins Adire Audio
that is unusal, most women say "bigger is better"
argh matey, this pirate no likey, hardy har har har Jeff
Really? In talking to Chris B on the phone I pictured him as a little guy. I'm almost 6'2", and about 215 right now. But likewise Dan, in speaking with you I pictured you about Chris E's (Geo's) size and less hair  . Maybe glasses too. I remember years ago I went on an interview and in speaking to the owner on the phone he said to just stop in, he was the big guy. So I walked in the front door (and at my size I rarely feel small around others) and the guy behind the counter stood up. He was 6'4" tall and I said "Hey, you must be Lou." He replied, "No, Lou is the big guy" Turns out Lou was the big guy at 6'7" or 6'8". There was only 1 guy who was smaller then me in that shop. That is really strange for a guy my size too
when i met Dan, I'd say he was at least 6 ft... hard to say... i hardly ever stand up straight so its kinda hard to guage correctly sometimes. Chris is a big guy... met him this past july, Lil taller than dan... around the same body shape tho i'm weighin in at a beefy 175 give or take 5lbs depending on what time of day and my eating habbits, and 6'4" used to be skinnier around 165 in Highschool wanna guess how i got the Screen name TalNLnky (tall N lanky)???
gotta say thanks for the heads up on that thread.... always nice to read more tech like discussions, I must agree that i think the main problem in that discussion was the "definitions" being used, and subjective vs objected also came into play. with that said.... I think acceleration/speed & response time (or some other substitute) would be a better word to use than audio slang like "Fast" and "punch/kick" i think alot of discussions/ arguements would be settled upon alot faster if all sides completely agreed on the definitions of the words being used.
argh matey, this pirate no likey, hardy har har har Jeff
Hey, a pirate! I always liked pirates... I think I just found a sig to use...
