i had a p1r, i loved my p1r...but for the last time, why and how would a p9 be that much better than a p1r...

my system will be all high end stuff...focal utopias (cause seth couldnt find angle mounts)...13w7s for subs...and now an 8w7 for some kickin midbass in the rear deck...

anyways all high end, found a p1r thats barely used, or i could get a p9 for about 750 brand new...

    what would you guys do?

im going to work now ill check it tnite.

Why are you buying an 8W7 for midbass? It isn't a midbass driver; it was designed for subwoofer applications. Also, why are you putting your midbass on the rear deck?

I don't have experience with the Pioneer head units, so I can't comment.

Considering how effortlessly the 12W7 reproduces the midbass frequencies, I'd say the 8W7 will be a killer midbass. But I agree with the rear deck question, why there. Man, you are going to destroy all imaging and create a confusing stage. Midbass is directional, keep it up front.

For 1/2 of the money, he could instead purchase some Peerless CSX midwoofers for the midbass. I wouldn't use a W7 for midbass, that is for sure.

well i have a 6.5 inch sub that is stock right now in the rear deck...and i like the blend sound...

its going to serve as a mid/sub bass (mainly when i am out and i dont feel like going deaf or i have the lady friend out and 2 13w7s are a lil overboard...the 8 will serve its purpose...

i chose the rear deck because i was going to fill the stock location and build an enclosure around the sub...couldnt think of anywhere else to put it. but my real question is what in the hell does the p9 do over what my p1r did...im still stuck on this deck choice i know...but the p9 is just intriguing.

im reading owners manuals now...and i know my p1r had a switch for 'pro mode' which i could then amplify my system (amp for highs, midrange, midbass, and subwoofer) when theres no way in hell id want to do that...i mainly want the p9 for its 24 bit burr-brown da converters to hear the best SQ i can get...and it seems to prove itself true that the p9 can only have the options i want when its connected with the eqp9...(which to my knowledge only has that 4 amplifier setup (highs, midrange, midbass, sub) which isnt happenin.

    dammit   <_<
