For a couple weeks my Kicker L5 12" has been randomly dying for a few seconds then turning back on. Its just been getting worse, and it happens like 10 times in a song. I thought something was loose, so i checked all connections to the amp and deck, and they are all fine. I took the sub out of the Kicker enclosure its in and checked the wires in there, they were fine too. When i put it back in, it does the same thing but this time i noticed the amp power light was turning off and on too. I dont think it was doing that before. Amp is a MTX jh600. All my equipment is only a few months old, and I installed it all myself. This is the first real problem Ive had. What could be going wrong here?

Check your fuse. I had a problem a month ago with an AGU fuse in my car. It was not blown but I was not getting power to my distribution block. I finally checked the resistance and was getting close to 1ohn resistance. Your fuse should show zero resitance.

Something else to check is the remote turn on wire from the HU. I had a car one time that had a bad connection where I had used a but splice conector to extend the length of the remote turnon wire. If I hit a big enough bump it would cut out. Once the car was settled it would come back on.

What fuses should i check? the one in-line with the amp power cable near the battery? or the fuses on the actual amp? i have a volt meter...how do i use that to check the fuses?

The inline fuse near the battery. Does your volt meter have an ohm setting? This is what you need. You want to see if the fuse shows any resistance. It should read zero. If it sows any resistance the fuse is bad.

i would check all the fuses if your having a problem. Even if its not one on the amp its best to check it since ur already checking them. Also check your ground wire and battery terminal cables. Also, look at your in-line fuse and power wire to the battery. Check every wire and fuse to cover all bases. If its not that your amp could have an overheating issue or it could be a bad amp. It could have been ok until something happened to it like overheated or had a part failure of some sort.

It was the fuse inline with the power cable. easy fix
