So, I'm 'kind of' sure that I know what happened but before I go out in the freezing cold to toy with it I want others opinions.

    System: pioneer p4200 head unit.
    Pioneer type-r 1800 watt sub.
    Rockford fosgate 750 watt amp.

Driving home from work. Stereo up loud. Gf called. So I turned off my radio. Hung up. Hit power and I heard my sub ride out a bass note then nothing.

If my research is right, I most likely blew the fuse in my amp. Correct? Or is there possibly something else.

All the wires to the sub and amp are in tight. Good ground. Never had wiring problems or wires touching. Blah :/

Do you have a volt meter?

If you think you blew a fuse, pull it out and check each one, if they are alright, check to see if the amp is even on...
If it is check to see if its in protect, then write back

No volt meter. The power led is on but I always figured, for the most part it's association is with the rem wire. The protect light isn't on and neither is thermal.

Took apart the amp. The amp is fine. No blown fuses either. Stumped. Only other thing that I can think of is that I may have blown my sub but it seems almost impossible to blow the type r's

Buy a multi meter, $20 at sears and itll make this and many other problems a piece of cake...

Ive never seen anybody blow a type R...

Im thinking RCA's or loose connection between the amp and sub

If you have a RCA to ipod cable, connect it to the amp and a ipod to see if its the RCA's

Well I came across something most unpleasant. I took my sub out of the box to get a closer look and on the back of the magnet was a screw. Removed. Not a biggy. On the type r they have a set of pins for the dual voice coils. To set them to single. As they've always been. So I decided to take them out and have a look. On the ends of each one they look kinda copper. Could maybe be a burn. So I rubbed them off and put them back.

Now the sub crackles like there's a connection issue and when there a huge rumbling bass line it catches it. So am I right to assume it's these pins? Can they be replaced easily?
