Tired of flashy head units...where can I get factory-style?

    While I've done car audio work before, it's been limited to installing new head units and/or speakers for friends with no understanding of electrical engineering. What I've noticed though, is all these after-market head units coming with very tiny (and all too numerous) buttons, and insanely bright LED backlighting, button lighting, and just randomly and pointlessly placed LEDs tacked on for the hell of it.

    Having just traded in my '07 Mustang to escape payments while jobless, and picked up an '03 Hyundai Sonata with two busted six inchers and a head unit without an aux jack, I'm ready to blow what money I have left on getting this car up to my audio standards.

    Having browsed crutchfield.com and several other sites, I've come to the conclusion that today's after-market crowd is more interested in making the interior of their car look like a rave party than something respectable. I realize that's a popular style these days, so no offense to those of you who enjoy it, but it's just not *my* style.

    And I assume you're all familiar with what's sold these days. But I'd like something similar to what I had in my mustang. Simple, functional, non-obnoxious, non-blinding at night.

    Any help you good folks could offer would surely be appreciated.

    Why not just do a double din screen They are simple and classy looking. If done right, they look factory.

    if you want a stock looking head unit then keep it. look into signal processors like the rockford 360.2 or the BIT ONE from AUDISON. both will work wonders and both have AUX in's for whatever you may have.

    if i could afford a new car i would look into either of these just for the stealthiness of it all.

    This might not be what your looking for

    But this radio has everything and the kitchen sink and its cheap an name brand and dvd. I personally have it in my car the cool thing is it has a sd card usb jack for ipod and a auxillary jack in the front doesn't have navigation unless you buy a add on It also has a dimming setting so it doesn't have to be bright and you can match its lights to the factory lights.You would never have to even use the dvd/cd player unless you wanted to watch movies.It also has multiple stereo controls and 3 sets of 4volt rcas if you ever decided to get a system.Also it has alot of stereo features two custom settings for I think its a 10 band eq and the typical pioneer settings.
