    yep....

Sounds like it is in the AC section of the amp...I really dont think it will matter which way you do it....If it was my amp, i would just solder it in and test run it...the worst that will happen is it releases more smoke....:D

And i took my chances soldering in my headunit and left a few burn marks..it worked tho!. I dont want any burn marks on this baby =\. Thanks for all the help tho , very much appreciated. I also emailed the manufacturer of the original capacitor and im trying to get one through them, seem as how i cant find it online.. ANYWHERE.

I can't wait to hear how this works out. :D

Remember to use heat sink compound on the FETs and OTs when you put it back together, too.

Im very familiar with thermal compound for CPU's and CPU coolers.. Will those thermal compounds be fine? http://www.xoxide.com/thercom.html

Those compounds should be okay, although they take awhile to reach maximum conductivity and have break-in periods.

I usually just use the cheap stuff from Radio Shack since it's easily available, but I don't see a problem with any of those.

Okay, well since i am very impatient i decided to desolder and remove the bad cap. When i did that i noticed a positive sign next to one of the holes for the cap on the board!. Now in all reality i know i NEED a non polar cap and im still on the mad search to find the rite one, but i put in the cap i received today and ill buy some thermal compound tomorrow and watch a smoke show when its all put back together. Ill be sure to record it and post a link hehe.. I blame viking for my new pyromaniac persona

Good news for me! Bad news for the awaiting smoke show!. I received this email from Harman today and was very relieved.

    "Hello Greg,
Thank you for your inquiry about the availability of one of our parts.
    The part is available
The part is called: CAP ELE BP10uF 200V BP600.1,BP1200
    The Part # is: EC111211000
The price is $2.79 each, plus shipping and handling (For U.S. orders only)."

So there will be no need to fire up that cap knowing its the wrong one! =D. So ill be sure to let everyone know how its goes since i received so much great info in this thread. Hopefully ill have it in the next 7 days but i doubt it =(.

It works GREAT!! The only thing i dont like is i forgot how much POWER that amp drains and how hot it gets. It performs very well tho =D. ill be making another video of the "reinstall" and comparison to the amp i replaced it with for a few weeks.

Of course she did!. Altho if i had her in the car with it on full blast i think i mite rattle her brain apart.
