I have a stereo set up on my ATV that was left out in the rain yesterday. It is just speakers and an amp sealed in some pvc pipe so no water should have gotten behind the speaker, but anything is possible. The rockford fosgate coaxial speakers on it are making this real low pulse sound now.The battery is also dead so I dont know if its some kind of pulse from the alternator or from the water. Does anyone have any idea what it could be and if its fixable?
I'm trying to picture this installation in my head......How big is the PVC pipe that it can hold all that equipment? Is the speaker mounted on a PVC Endcap?
It is some 6" pvc with two elbows that turn back towards the seat. The whole thing sits on the front rack. 6.5" speakers will fit on the end of the elbows. It was a chore to find an amp small enough to fit but finally found a Boss CX150 that worked out.
did the amp get wet too? or just the speakers? maybe the water is causing a short of some kind? let it all dry out and see what happens.
Well like I said I dont believe water got in the tube but anything is possible. The only way water could get in is behind the speakers and I siliconed the seal behind them to prevent that.
Actually, I like your idea of using PVC for an all in one set up! Very creative! Low battery voltage can cause "pulsing sounds" Be sure the battery is fully charged and inspect for any water damage to the amp or connections....
Thats what must be causing that sound then. Looks like I am going to have to get a new battery because it will not hold a charge. Here is a pic if yall was wondering what it looks like.
Post pics plz! Would love to see that! I really like original ideas and "odd" installs! they are neat to see...... Btw....did allenaryes get his rig up and going? Hope so, a neat idea like that needs to work!
Well whats the hold up ! if yall are gunna go turkey huntin with that rig i suspect that system would make one loud bird call!
