I have Alpine compnent speakers and 6x9s that arent being nearly powerd how they should be. i only have 55x4 going to them and their capably of 235 for the 6x9s and 205 for the components. i want to amp them but i only have a 500watt Alpine Mono block. how could i make that work? could it work? or do i need a 4 channel? should i invest in a new alternator once i do that or just add the 2nd battery? i already have 2 12 inch mtx thunders with 1800watts goin to them. wich could be push 2000 a piece... wat should i do? i want the healthiest solution.
What are you powering them with now? A clean 55 watts should be more than enough to power those speakers to pretty high levels. Dont buy an alt or battery until you have the system the way you want it and see how it performs everyday, if it aitn broke dont fix it. you really are not running that much power. What kind of car and how many amps does you alt put out?
Xplode headunit 58x4. thats to the component speakers and 6x9s. Subs are takin 1800watt xplode amp through P.A. cap . 4guage wire. Alt pushin 110amps i wen n got two sizes up on the battery.. dont really mean nuttn tho withought the bigger alt. i wanna amp my speakers..least run 100 to all of them. and im switchin to a 2000watt amp for my subs. All in a 99 GrandprixGT
Okay, there are practically no 6x9 speakers that handle 235 watts RMS, most are between 80-90 watts and some claim about 125. The same for components. A head unit produces maybe 18-25 watts of high-distortion power that is often measured a 1 KHz, hardly full-range. Most good external amps are measured at 20-20,000 Hz. You can't use most mono-block amps for mids/highs because their crossover normally limits their output frequencies to about 250 Hz and below, especially Class D amps because that design isn't great at running high frequencies. Even if the amp allows full range, it would be mono, so you'd need one for the left and one for the right channel to have stereo sound. Your best bet is to use either: 1) A 5-6 Channel amplifier or 2) A 4-Channel and a monoblock for bass. A good 50x4 RMS amp should be plenty or you might opt for as high as 100x4. You didn't state the voice coil arrangement of the subs so picking an amp is difficult, but 250-300 watts to each should be plenty.
